Please HELP! My plants are in dying! NEED HELP ASAP

Hello everyone, I come pleading for some help and I hope someone can. My plants look terrible and I don’t think they have long left in this world if I don’t change something. This is my second grow and I still have a small base of know how on the nutrients, pH issues and pests but my plants have some serious issues. Here is the support ticket filled out to the best of my ability.

What is the strain and type(unknown bag seed, strain name, regular seeds, feminized seeds, auto-flower, etc)?
White widow (3) / Gold leaf (1) all regular

Indoor or Outdoor? If outdoor, planted in ground or in a container?
Indoor in a peat pot

Size of space (max height and area, length/width)?
Closet, average size. They’re only about 4-5" right now.

Soil or Hydro? Type of Medium used? System type?
Soil, 50/50 perlite - peat moss mix. Miracle grow

pH? Of the soil or medium (root zone/reservoir/run-off) and of the water and/or nutrient mix that is fed to the plant?
I am unsure but I got a PH meter I just need to figure out how to calibrate it.

Type and strength of nutrients used? NPK? EC/TDS/PPM levels? Of what you feed it as well as what is in the water by itself and in the soil/medium (run-off), or reservoir.
NO NUTES - except I believe the miracle grow soil has some plant food in it.

Temperature? Day vs. night temp or highest and lowest temps? Root zone temps?
Around 68-70 degrees all the time.

Humidity %? Day vs. night
Not much, not super dry either though. The house is AC but I keep my room warmer than the rest with the heater closer to 70.

Light system/watts/lumens/FLUX/PAR?
2 CFL 100w (warm white 3500k) They have been fairly close and I noticed they’re pretty warm so I put them higher above the plants now. (About 4")

Ventilation system? Size? CFM? CO2? AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier?
Just a cheap fan I run every now and then. I open my window to let fresh air in sometimes too.

Number “weeks/days” from into Season, Vegetative Growth or
Bloom/flowering?
They’re like a month old in veg, I’ve had them on a 20/4 on off schedule.

I’m shocked they’re even still alive at all. I was gone for about 20 days and had someone watering them but that is it. I really want to save these girls as they have been resilient from the start but I don’t know if I can, I topped them thinking new growth might be better but the leaves are dying just as fast as they’re growing (Or faster) Some are turning black, almost all have some yellow on them, some have brown spots and most of them are drying up and breaking off.

If there was a way you could transplant them into some new Foxfarm ocean soil and water them make sure your pH is good looks like whoever watered them may have possibly over watered them or did not water them enough or do any pH check or such I know that the Foxfarm soil I start to finish and it and have had no problems don’t even have to add nutrients but if you do they just get bigger but just to save them that’s what I would try good Foxfarm soil And give them a few days but I am also new to this but I’ve done tons and tons of research you will get the best support you need to hear for sure don’t know if any of the information I gave you will help that your babies are in my prayers Good luck

I completely agree with @Hogmaster you nailed my friend.
Get your different soil nutrient free if posibe.
Remove as much of the old soil as possible but be very careful not to harm your baby’s roots. Mix a gaof water with one or two tsp of nitrogen peroxide and super thrive thrive or root stimulate one tsp of each pour some in your new hole after there in there new home add more solution and thas it. And don’t over water any more.

How close are you keeping your CFLs? Before you set them to 4"? You said it yourself they could have been to close maybe?? Maybe a light burn issue? And I’m asking the group here…are the 2 Cfl bulbs enough for this operation? And you may want to try sticking in a Daylight cfl or something with a kelvin of 5500+ for vegging…do you know the CRI- color rendering index of your lights? Make sure they are above 82…don’t take my word for it as I’m sure there’s plenty of ppl with more experience with CFLs that could confirm if any of these things may be an issue…good luck post some new pics back in a week or so! Lastly- you never know if whoever was watching your setup may have forgot to water or switch the lights on for a few days…they can be salvaged but def listen to these guys they can def help!

I have to agree it looks like big time overwatering which leads to crazy ph problems…

Over watering was definitely an issue. I was giving them water ever 3-5 days or if I saw them getting droopy and while I was gone the peat pots were soaked and there was fungus growing on the outside of the peat container. That’s another thing I forgot to mention.

I transplanted two of them into gallon pots from the smaller peat pots, all of them appeared to be root bound. I was waiting for them to react to the transplant before doing the other two just in case they went into shock or something.

Is there anything else I can do aside from transplant them? I don’t see them surviving something like that honestly. I would like to at least get them stable before I tried that and right now they’re still declining.

If I were to flush them with purified water with like a gallon each would that do anything for me or make my problems worse?

My last grow I did in the same setup and had no nutrient issues for the most part.

Can anyone recommend a cheap pH meter that’s easy to use?

If you plan on growing for personal consumption like me they really need a good PH meter . I went with the cheap one from Amazon at first but had to turn rite around and cough up the money for a decent one from Milwaukee . PH is critical and can lead to many different things going wrong your roots can get lock out that will not allow them to absorb the nutrients you add . You are in the rite place for advice the Grow Mentors and the others in this forum will help you get the kids on track if they can be saved . Good luck

Do you think that would work for a starter one? I don’t really have money to drop on a fancy one right now but I feel like this could definitely help me get back on track. I just hope there is still time.

No way dude, those are all junk for reading pH, trust me.

I recommend this one. It’s only $18 and I just got mine in the mail today. It’s amazing. Way better than my $35 hydro store one (yellow Milwaukee pH meter). I’d recommend this one to everyone, very simple to calibrate and reads extremely accurate.

I agree with the assessment of over watering but, I blame the Miracle Grow. Too hot for that little seedling. You should grow them in peat - perlite alone for 3-4 weeks before placing into ANY “HOT” soil :slight_smile:

Is there anything I can do to tone down the nutes in the soil? They are and will be in a 50/50 perlite/peat their entire life. These have got to be some of the smallest plants for their age on this site! Haha

Two of them actually looking better by a little. I switched the CFLs to a different spectrum, I raised the light… I transplanted them all into larger pots. I got some purified water to give them for the time being and some distilled ozonated water. I gave them a little bit of root stimulator because when I transplanted the GL today the roots were not looking so good. I may have let it dry out a bit too much as I was trying to get them to dry out to first off start fresh but also kill the fungus that was growing on the side of the peat pots.

Here is still praying! I was thinking about going out and buying some new soil and trying to germ two more seeds and see if I can get better results with an all new setup. My goal is just to get these four to a point where I can take a decent clone and start fresh with that. These plants have been through too much.

Can you guys recommend other soil types possibly some found at the major retailers that would work? Fox farms is only in most of the small grow shops and I don’t have any close that I will be able to get to in the next week.

Here are some leaf samples recently taken, all plants seem to be exhibiting the same signs of stress but I don’t know what I am doing wrong now. I thought I had the pH thing going but maybe not? Could anyone give me some input as to what you might think it may be?

@Imnewatthis trust me we all think we have everything dialed in and then tomorrow comes and we take it right in the boo boo… Lol but honestly it looks to me like you might be having too much nutrients of some things and not enough of other things which appears to be locking out and burning up at the same time so you really have to get your pH adjusted , I would recommend a hard core flush and let them dry out and try to start from a good pH and then see what needs to be added because you might have enough of everything that you need it’s just not allowing the plant to take it up because it’s in too much abundance …
