So I have 3 Blue Gelato 41 in 5x5 tent with full ventilation system and co2. I am a bit curious on this but here it goes. About 2 days ago I sent the 3 Blue Gelatos feminised into flower stage. I was wondering what will happen or if it will be fine to move those 3 plants outside to flower so they can get to their full potential. Problem is currently where I’m at the daylight I have East to West is 13 1/2 hours. The daylight hours are going down everyday. My question is will plant suffer bad, hermie, be fine since it’s so little of time I had sent them into flower or what. I don’t want to do the wrong decision. Reason for this question is cause I’m wanting to finish the rest of the seeds I have so I can get new strains going.
@GreenThumb101 I’m only a beginner myself but from reading and info from others on this forum I would keep them in the tent as the work to get to where you are could all be wasted if it goes wrong. Oher issues I’ve read are the outside contaminants, not used to the weather (wind rain cloud cover) and also the risk of infestation from bugs or animals taking an interest. Light schedule is also an issue as AUTOS don’t care about light cycles but been told and read that it can cause herm and possibly reveg in others. I’m the same. Would love to have a selection of strains. Could it be easier to start the other seeds indoor on windowsill or under light for a while. Like I said I’ma beginner just at the flowering stage of my 1st grow. Good luck
My neighbor is grow gelato and just had it hermie on him. He was bringing it outdoor then back to subpar lighting. It stressed out the plant causing them to hermie. He had to harvest early and may have seeds in all his plants.
I have one Blue Gelato outside but I didn’t flip light on it she is enjoying outside weather. I don’t want plants too Hermie at all. I was thinking on waiting til it hits 12 hrs daylight or less to put them outside but by then it would be too late because they would be already done by that time. If it was 12 hrs daylight it shouldn’t harm it that much unless it’s at around late bloom right? I mean I have good climate now perfect for flowering just had one problem with GG4 auto had to harvest early cause of grey mould on big fan leaves not anywhere near bud sites or sugar leaves. Other GG4 auto outside is handling climate like a champ.
I’ve not got enough experience or knowledge. Happy to get to flower with my first grow. Im all indoor as not got the weather for outdoors. Dunno if it’s right but I’ve heard black bags over them after 12 hours to keep a schedule. Keep the light off them until it’s dark. Hope you get the right info and get the most from your gelato. Good luck whatever you do.
Not sure where you’re from but the outdoor plants are in the process of stretching and should be flowering by mid August for much of the United States. That’s the natural cycle. You don’t need a 12 12 cycle to flower outdoor. When the summer solstice happens on June 21 the days start to get shorter. That’s what triggers the plants to stretch and get ready for flower.
