Leave the dome on and only water every 2 days. Just keep the coco damp. It’s very easy to dampen off the tiny tap root but generally this is not associated with coco
Alright, on a side note I did turn on lighting at day 5 on an 18/6 schedule, about a foot above the solo cups running at 50% (200W full-spectrum grow light with Samsung LM301B LEDs). Should I keep them off for another week?
That’s too intense for seedlings. I use a fluorescent T5 light for the seedling period but when I do use my regular grow light I set the DLI at 15-18. I suggest downloading the smart phone app called PHOTONE to set the right lighting intensity by each growth stage you can also use the manufacturer’s recommendations which usually is around 28-30” for seedlings at 25% intensity?? Run 24/0 for seedlings
Awesome, thanks!
Day 9:
Pretty sure they’re about dead. The tall one was bent over this morning morning and it looks like the base of the stem at soil level broke. Mounded it upright but leaves continue curling in word.
The smaller one just went limp.
On a side note, the one backup seed I used the paper towel method on and then planted in a jiffy pellet seems to be slowly chugging along alright.
Day 11:
Both potted plants died. Jiffy pellet backup seed seems to be steady. Planted 2 new seeds (special Queen/ northern lights) in jiffy pellets.
Potted backup seedling 7 days ago. Seems to be growing well. Noticed today that the second set of leaves are starting to curl downward but the third and fourth set are coming in quickly since yesterday. Been watering with 7oz of bottled water every 2 days.
1 of the new jiffy pellet seeds grew but did not grow its first set of leaves and died. However, the second one seems to be coming along nicely. Potted 4 days ago. Same watering schedule as the main plant.
Too much Growmie. As long as the medium was wet at the transplant I would water 1/2 that 7 ounces every 3-4 days. Once the roots have established and the 4th node is showing increase the volume of water and go to run off. Keep a dry to drench cycle going after that. Let these dry and lift the pot to check the weight to judge the watering frequency
Thanks for the feedback!
@OGIncognito its been 3 days since the last watering, plant has grown a lot since then. I believe all 4 nodes have grown. Should I water to run off now?
Looking better Growmie, I would give her another solid week or so of growth. Keep the wet to dry cycle going…let the roots feed and breath.
Main plant appears to be growing well, many smaller nodes starting to sprout. Went ahead and watered about 3oz (bottle water).
@OGIncognito ive noticed that some of the leaves have a yellowish tint on the edges and one of the leaves on the first node is light brown. Think it might be nutrient burn? but I haven’t added any. Since my initial batch failed, I have switched to potting fox farms ocean soil.
The coloring is coming back and looking much better than 3 days ago. In the early seedling and 1st week of veg this wilt/ yellowing is usually indicative of overwatering and PH. Remind me again of the medium you’re using and let them go to the dry cycle before watering again. Photos or autos? If these are photo periods I would plan on a transplant once their 100% healthy
Alrighty, this one germinated in a jiffy pellet and then I potted it in the 1qt pot using fox farms ocean forest soil about a week ago. This plant is a special queen photo. As always, thanks for the feedback!
Gotcha, that medium will feed for approximately 6 weeks with water at 6.5. To prevent root bound I would definitely up pot and go with a fabric bag. How large of a grow space and what lighting will you be using?
Grow tent is 4x2x6, came with a few 5 gallon fabric pots that I plan to use. Grow light is a 200w Full Spectrum Samsung LM301B LED. Think I should give it another dry cycle, then transplant to 5 gallon, then water?
agree. I would do a slurry test on the FF medium you plan on using in the 5 gl fab bags to see where the starting PH and PPMs are
Note: started germination of stress killer CBD auto. Planning on growing this along with the photos.
