PH pen what do you use? good/bad and recommended

Looking for a good PH pen, who has had bad experiences with what and good results, preferences etc.

If your looking for a really good one, I recommend the Bluelab. I use it and I love it, but it’s downside is it’s expensive.

Yes have seen these Advertised in Australia, now i will check the price, thanks heaps for the info just so many out there with so many diff prices, like a lucky dip if you dont know anything about them.

I bought one of Amazon for about $20 but I really can’t vouch for it because I haven’t used it that long yet to know if it is really any good. LoL

This is the one use. I went through about 7 cheap ones before I bought this one. Well worth the extra money.

I use an Apera as well. Don’t waste your money on one of the 20 dollar jobbies. They are worthless. Mine has a nice skinny probe that is replaceable to boot.

I couldn’t agree more with @MAXHeadRoom. I did the exact same thing as him burn through 2 cheap pH pens before I shelled out a couple more dollars and bought the Apera ph20. I absolutely love it super easy to calibrate and store. Very accurate compared to the cheap $14 ones. Have a nice night everyone.

While I am a Noob grower, I do have experience with Ph meters from years of home brewing. I ran the gamut of Ph meters starting with the $10-$15 ones on Amazon. As @MAXHeadRoom and @neckNflu point out, go ahead and go for a meter like the Apera and get it over with. I currently use a Hach Pocket Pro + for my brewery, so I already had the Ph meter covered. Milwaukee and Hanna are additional top of the line hand held Ph meters.

I didn’t, however, have an EC/PPM meter, so my mentor @raustin steered me toward the BlueLab pen which I bought and now use. I really like this unit and long realized it is a waste of time and money (and a potential dead plant) to buy cheap junk when you’ll end up with a good meter sooner or later anyway.

The Replacement Probes cost a lot but probes don’t last forever and to be able to replace it would be nice
