Howdy,
Trying to get my winter grow planned. My current grow has about 6 weeks left until I harvest. I’m trying to go ahead and get my ducks in a row that way I can roll right into my next grow after harvest. I’m wanting to grow 4 or 5 plants, I’ve got all the room in the world so space isn’t an issue. Now where I need yalls opinions and input is what strain to grow and my new lights. I’m thinking about buying the pop culture mix pack from ILGM. Also I’m leaning towards gold leaf or northern lights. Opinions? This is only my second grow. The lights I’m not going to lie, I don’t have a huge bank account and my ole lady doesn’t exactly want me spending our life savings on lights either lol so I’m hoping to get away with a couple hundred dollars on lights. I’ve already got a good light for seedlings and veg, just not the light spectrum for flowering. What’s everyone’s opinion? Thanks all in advance!
If you can swing it, grab some qb’s. Super easy to grow with and getting you a very high efficacy light source. Other than that, cmh will get you pretty good bang for your buck too.
Northern lights is an easy strain to grow and resists problems pretty well. I’m growing it right now for my first ever grow and am having great success. A lot of folks grow white widow also.
Also, @dbrn32 he got me turned on to the quantum boards and it was the best investment in the hobby.
If you are going to do 5 plants. You are looking at needing 5 or more lights. I have to run at least to lights per plant on mine with my viparspectras. Mostly because I need a bigger light pattern than the lights give. I would look at a light that has a fair amount of coverage to keep cost down a little. @Familyman is right. @dbrn32 can help get you the best bang for your buck. I got a Qb and it covers 2 plants with the one light. it cost more but is a much better light all way round. Good luck with your grow.

A good QB set up will run you around $300 or so. I’m sure if you lay out a budget we can find a way to make it work.

While the Quantums are great (I have 2 ready to go for this grow) I had good success with MarsHydro 600w lights. They run about $140 each and I ran 2 of them in a 32x32" tent. I pulled about 1/2 lb from the space each of my two grows. If you’re growing 5 plants, you’ll need more light than that but I have been very pleased with the value from these lights. They’re by far the best but they served me well until I could upgrade.
Disagreed you had 1200 watts and got 224 grams something don’t add up there from the numbers I’ve been seeing and hearing did something go wrong to be avg. Under .2 grams per watt 32x32 is st barleynl 7sq at only 50/sq that’s 450 should be sufficient u trippled it… 1000 watt hids have a 8x8 par led not sure but I know it’s not THAT far off… If you go hid and have a cooling abilities indoors to save money check out used equipment from local hydro store u can get set up with a 600 HPs or mh for under 150$ wth a flower and a separate veg bulb. Save some money and do LEDs Whaaaay down the road when you can afford and understand what your buying and saving on and if it’s even nesecarry if eat aint an issue at nothing wrong with hids
The blurple lights true draw is what we usually work with when trying to do the yield per watt bs. I might recommend that instead of doubting somebody’s statement of fact that you properly understand the actual power draw of the lights they used.

Then it’s not a 1200 y say it didn’t mean to hurt your feelings through another person’s directed post y say u have a 1200 watt when you dot ya know it’s kinda MiSLEADING like the MANUFACtURERs do all the time @dbrn32 said it best when he says 600 he means 600 so sry I didn’t know I was supposed to cup his 1200 watt balls as I address him if he ain’t go I didn’t realize I have research every person to see if the exaggerate there light or bs there way to the end with a 224 g yield on a said 1200 watt light tell the new person actual info not stuff he has to figure out isn’t what’s at face value explain u Ave a price of shit led that lies about power then I might understand what the hell your defending
Mars 600 isn’t a 600 watt light though. He doesn’t name the light, but was just stating what he had. I think they’re like 150 watt lights, maybe not even that. So I would assume his yield was in line with what to typically expect.
Grams per watt is really a misleading metric too. It takes no account for veg time.
Plug wattage is what you go by; not the marketing hype. And by definition someone new with a question is not going to be up on the latest and greatest.

I was saying that he said he had a 1200 watt light when other people talk 1200 walks they mean 1200 watts at the wall but he was speaking to a newcomer who is asking very very newcomer questions and when telling him a 1200 watt light and maybe he’s familiar with graham per watt and might have been confused I was confused that’s why I said it I said be more upfront with him tell him you’re 12 only pulls text amount at the wall and that might not be as misleading as the manufacturers are I’m not trying to get on nobody’s bad side but he came at me like I was being offencive from the beginning and I wasn’t I was just stating that 1200 watts to 200 didn’t add up and I didn’t know he was still going by a manufacturer’s numbers and not true therefore it’s not offended towards anybody it’s not any kind of negativity until I was told about myself and I can joke with the best of them Trust but not everybody has the same sense of humor as me and I do nothing but you knowledge that I read from hours and hours and hours of dedicated love for the plants and I hope that newcomers get minformed as I did and it was very helpful read read read I reacted all I did was disagree and I’m allowed to disagree what if somebody got offended by me disagreeing is childish and when you tell me about myself I would do the same about you you don’t need to tell me about myself because you don’t agree with what I said you need to put your two cents in on top of my two cents and me not tell me that I’m a bad person or whatever you said because everybody to get up in an uproar and I don’t know anything about any other forms I came here because I seen people were knowledgeable like myself and I have a lot of knowledge to offer and like you can see I have plenty for everybody and I’m not stingy with it I respond to everybody 99.9% positive until now so chill out

The use of profanity is grounds to be thrown out. The use of profanity towards an individual is insulting. As I said: please tone down your rhetoric.
This is a great forum for the reason that it is policed to keep it civil.
There are many many many people here that are equally as knowledgeable who interact with others who never resort to profanity. Especially directed towards another member. You can do with it as you wish or be defensive or ignore me.
Actually this is an adult forum and we try to keep things polite and respectful we don’t always agree or like each others ideas or theories but can quietly shake our heads as we read and move on. If you think the mods miss much that happens you would be sadly mistaken we just like to see if members can proactively resolve things without intervention and would much prefer to be helping people grow than playing peace keeper
