Overall Plant Health Seems to be Declining, Buds Look Okay Tho

Howdy,

First post, first grow in about 15 years…

My girls overall health seems to be declining, mostly leaves just look yellow and pale. I feel i have been fighting this since they flowered, but bud production seems okay.

Any help/insights is appreciated to get these back on track if need be, or if i am just in my head, and for any subsequent grows…

-Runtz (left) & GDP (right) Autos from ILGM
-Popped 5/8 but prob in the 5th/6th week of flower
-Method: Soil - COM Stonnington Blend no amendments
-Vessels: 3 gal fabric pots
-PH of water going in is anywhere from 6.0 to 6.5 using PH down from tap of 7.5 to 8 - run off ranges anywhere from 6.8 to 7.3 but has gotten up to almost 7.7 sometimes and i run some low PH plain water through to try to lower it.
-Tap is 30 PPM - Nutrient Solution going in is around 650 PPM - runoff now is at 1100 - 1300 for all but has been up to 1600 - using roots organic liquid nutes at 1/2 strength once a week - started at 5 weeks in. I run an additional liter or two of plain water through if i get high PPMs to lower them.
-Indoor - 3x3 AC Infinity kit - I think wattage is 240 but i I have it at 70% with DLI at top colas 55 - 60 mid canopy 45-50
-Current Light Schedule is 18/6
-Temps; Day 76-80, Night 74
-Humidity; Day 55%, Night 65%
-Ventilation system; Yes running at half speed.
-Co2; No

Also a couple questions:

  • I have one Runtz that has grinspoon/pearly buds - is this operator error or genetics? Just wondering, in any case gonna finish her up for hash.
  • when PH and PPM measurements for runoff are taken, should I wait a bit to let ALL of the water drain or take it immediately at when 15% runoff is met, seems if i wait a bit PH and PPM climbs from those last concentrated droplets?

Thanks for the support!

I am sorry but I haven’t grown autos… But they may be almost ready and yellowing due to that…

Closer Pic of the buds would help.

Since they are autos… Not sure what you’d do if they are in nute lock out.

Your soils pH sounds high… You want 6.5 ideally.

This is a auto gene, belonging to aunt Ruderalis the 10% that causes the autoflowering, nothing you did. Harvest and everything as normal, drying is quick since no density to the buds. Other girls I look like maybe a lack of something, or ph problems, along with the fade of the plant during late flower, leave the leafs until they die, this late in flower you are fine, nothing can change them back to green once they are yellow. Water feed as necessary till harvest, keep up the great work :+1: @BrGrBuds7

It’s an auto. I wouldn’t expect much from them. Autos are just not typically very good plants. I’m sure there’s people who’ll disagree, but I’ve grown a few, and always duds compared to photos. IMO, they’re just a novelty. Plants are always ugly.

I say they’re fading from flowering. Next grow I’d add some Silica and CalMag to your current mix.
Certainly! Adding beneficial microbes, silica, and kelp can significantly enhance the health and growth of your cannabis plant. Let’s break down the benefits of each:

  1. Calcium (Ca):
  • Essential for cell wall structure, enzyme function, and nutrient transport.
  • Helps prevent issues like blossom end rot (common in tomatoes and peppers).
  • Supports overall plant health and growth.
  1. Magnesium (Mg):
  • A crucial component of chlorophyll, necessary for photosynthesis.
  • Deficiency leads to yellowing between leaf veins.
  • Improves nutrient uptake and enzyme activity.

CalMag supplements are particularly useful during specific growth stages or when you notice signs of deficiency. Follow the product instructions for proper dosing. Happy gardening! :seedling::herb:

  1. Silica:
  • Silica (silicon dioxide) isn’t essential for cannabis survival, but it offers several advantages.
  • It strengthens cell walls, protects against pests and diseases, and boosts photosynthesis.
  • [Silica supplements can help your plants thrive, especially in stressful conditions]

Respectfully disagree Grow Bro, I’ve grown autos that equal the size and yields as the photos I grow. Admittedly they’re not for everyone and need a great start :love_you_gesture:

Welcome! You’ve found the best place online for help with cultivating. They’re awesome and will help you get your ladies close to where they need to be. Good luck growing! I’m sure I’ll see ya around!

That’s cool, maybe my style of growing just doesn’t work well with autos. I’ve probably done a dozen, or so, and never had one compete with my photos, but I’m sure a few people do ok.

I bought a 10 pack of Runtz starting out, got 3 to harvest, and none of them looked like that. One was purple and smelled like fruit loops in diesel, the other 2 had no purple but all had thick stacking buds. Have yet to get the top bud to harvest due to mold, have wished for a little of your bud structure.
