Over dried my buds

I’m pretty sure I overdried my bud because I have had them in the jars now for about 10 hours and just burped the humidity hasn’t reached over 56% what do I do… are they ruined… c a n I saved them or no

Without checking the stems with a moisture meter, over dried is unknown. 56% is good for curing. I cure in Grove bags, then I throw a Boveda 58-60% pack in the jar to maintain a consistent RH.

Once they are dried below 62 you start to loose oils.
However you can add a slice of fruit or a leaf and change it every 24hr until humidity roses. It doesn’t take alot so be careful.

You will be fine. I just put some in Grove Bags at 52% after only 6 days hanging to dry. Stems do not even break easily. Temp can affect Rh readings as well.

DO you still have any trim, preferably frozen? If so you can add some trim to your jars to bring the RH up.

I usually add the slice of orange skin/rind and it helps with bringing the RH up.

That will certainly work, but brings flavor and smell along for the ride.

Givem more than 10 hours. Mix it up. I have seen mine go from 55-63 overnight. Maybe almost a full day. Dont burp them for a day or 2 and see where they go. Might be surprised.

I think you will be fine. I see no issues at 56%. If you have a Boveda pack it will get you there.:+1:

I dried mine a little further than I wanted too. I cut a couple lengths of the stem and peeled back the outer part. See if that will add a few %%

@beardless they are already cut up and jarred but my hygrometer aren’t going past about 57% @Newt I don’t gave any I didn’t save any like an idiot… I did use the wood mousyiur Metter and it told me most of them were between 10%-12% so I figured that was good . Should I buy som of those bovita packs and put them in there while I’m curing or do they only work for after. I could drop some carrots in their too but I didn’t expect them to dry so fast they were only hanging for like 4 or 5 days

At 56-57% I wouldn’t take any drastic action. A Boveda may help. I use them for long term storage in my humidor.

@Newt ok I did just check some of them 1 is at 63% one I don’t have a meter for there are a few at 59% one at 60% and the rest are at like 58 and 57% so you think they will be alright then

I think so. There’s still moisture deep in the buds. Give it time. Especially if there are some larger buds in the jars. They will take longer for the moisture to reach the surface.

@Newt yes I did try packing bigger ones with smaller ones the best I could so I guess I’ll just ride it out… what exactly happens when they don’t cure at the right humidity. Do they just stay kind of dry… they will still cure right??

They will be fine. Worst case slightly harsh, and you get a lot of kief in your gringer.

If you are 57 - 60% you are fine. The mini hygrometers are not the most accurate instruments to begin with.
I really did mean the stem that you took the bud off. Even some of the thicker ones. I put my moisture meter on a stem and it was 19 - 20%. A bud should be 11-12% on the meter when it goes in the jar (not to be confused with RH%). The stem will gradually give up some of its moisture to the buds. All will be good.

@beardless ok thanks I understand now… yea I only checked the actualy buds for moisture they were like 13 14 percent I went and checked about 12 hours later and they were already 10-12% some probably drier so I pulled it all. But thanks for all of the info I hope they turn out good. Im just stressing cause I have a lot of time and decent amount of money invested … im waiting until my scale gets here Wednesday not sure what I have… I have almost 13 32 ounce jars filled some buds more dense then others so we shall see

Here is a trick someone just told me. This is for us dry trimmers. When the buds feel dry on the outside lay the stems out in a big tote and put the lid on. The moisture in the stems will rehydrate the buds and you can extend the drying time 2 or 3 more days.

Worked like a champ. My ambient rH is under 40%. Doing this gave me 8 days of dry time rather than 5.

@beardless do you put paper bags on bottom of tote? This girl coming down in couple of weeks is top shelf so gets the special treatment. Dry trim after 10 days in my 3x3 i will convert. They are very dense so a couple more days before grove bag might be nice. Wedryer sits this plant out.
