Outdoors: Flowering in tropical environments

Hello everyone,

I want to hear about your experiences with outdoor grows in humid environments, particularly during the flowering phase.

I am concerned that bud rot will be an issue with my outdoor grow since I live on Long Island which can be pretty humid in September/October. My grow last season was with autos that flowered in July and were harvested in September. I lost 2 to bud rot :frowning: .

I have photoperiods so I don’t expect to get to the late flowering phase until sometime in October/early November but even then its still pretty humid here.

Anyways I wanted to know if you all have any strategies to help mitigate the risk of bud rot. Im growing Purple Haze which is supposed to be mold resistant but you never know :person_shrugging:

Thank you :pray:t3:

Bud rot is the worst. I had a northern lights photo last season. I started too late but was able to force flower in September and I still had to harvest early because of rot. I’m trying sativas this season - super lemon haze auto and Durban poison photo. Thinking they might be better in the heat and humidity. Last season I did cut out the rot and sprayed the plant with diluted H2O2 which allowed me to at least get some decent buds even though they needed more time. Also tried to move the plant under an awning when it was raining.

There are mold/rot resistant strains available. I suffer from the same thing…

I’m also on LI and bud rot is a big problem lost 2/3’s of my outdoor grow last year I plant mine in the ground so not much I can do. If there in containers you can try to keep them out of the rain but the ambient rh nothing you can do. I have indoor grow going on all year so my outdoor is just a bonus good luck my outdoor plants are going great this year
