Outdoor Growers - tell us about your pest control strategies

Hey growers,

I’m gonna try an outdoor grow again this summer and I know what pest issues I have. Spider mites and Aphids thrive here on the 31 parallel. What methods and maintenance schedules do you employ to stay ahead of pests and disease?

Good reference by @Budbrother. Just to add to this, I spray weekly with Crop Control and BT. I’m in an area influenced by the ocean so humidity can jump up at certain times of the year. I’m not an autoflower fan but I’m currently growing my first autoflower. My hope is it should be done flowering by late summer before the humidity and marine layer hits in the fall and bud rot becomes difficult to keep at bay.

The best pest prevention is to keep pests off of your plants. Fabric plant protector cloth bags work wonders and only very small stuff can make it through the screen. A dose of Captain Jack’s or Safer will take care of them.

Man i got an arsenal. I start the season spraying copper fungicide for fungus and septoria. And i use BT and captain jacks for the pest. When my plants go into flower i quit using the copper fungicide and start using a combination of lost coast plant therapy, pure crop 1, Dr zymes eliminator, and green cleaner all 4 of those fight PM and pest.
