I am growing ILGM seeds, Gold Leaf, White Widow, Amnesia Haze, Grand Daddy Purp, MK Ultra and Super Skunk. I have a wooden fence that blocks some of the light but my neighbor leaves a flood light on, its about 100 feet away or so, its not directly hitting the plants at night. I am wondering with these strains in MI outdoor grow, should I be concerned with Hermie issues from these lights?
That wooden fence allows airflow hence the holes. This also lets light in from and adjacent flood light 100 feet away.
My solution is to get light blocking poly and put it on the inside of the fence, on both sides. That way the only light is the moon and stars directly. As opposed to creating an entire tent to move every day. That may be overkill, what do you think?
Your concern would be if the plants are getting measurable light intensity. The moon can seem really bright at times but but it’s measured light intensity at ground level is basically nothing, so it’s light doesn’t impact flowering plants any.
Hey @dorrstep
Nice looking plants!!
If you can put a light meter on them at night and see how intense it is.
There are several good light meter apps that can help you check light intensity for your cannabis plants. One highly recommended app is the Photone Grow Light Meter. [This app is known for its accuracy and ease of use, allowing you to measure the photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and light intensity (PPFD) with your smartphone]
[Another option is the Lux Light Meter Pro, which measures illuminance in lux and can help you understand the light levels your plants are receiving]
Thank, Yes measuring the light would help. I have grown before outdoor without any Hermie issues, so it may not be an issue. ILGM seeds have always been very consistent, I want to take any precautions I could before flower to keep them happy at night and avoid any issues.
