Dam, I forgot the disclaimer!
The ladies look great. Showing roots through the cups which is exciting, things are moving way faster than my first round. I’ve created a passive humidifier which was able to bring my RH from 19% up to about 60%.
I know there isn’t as much control as I’ll probably need… but considering I had all the parts on hand and the only cost was a couple hours measuring and cutting… Let’s see what it can do.
I can slide the close lids to completely close the inlets and lower the RH… or fully open them to increase. So far it’s working alright.
It doesn’t seem like I’m gonna get much more than 45% RH from this passive unit. I’ll have to try a couple different moisture whicks. Triplets are looking pretty good so no complaints there.
Continued growth. I noticed some upward curling of the serrated leaves, so I raised my light to 25". I’m hoping that’ll help. They’re drinking well, couple ounces every other day, I’m using my spray bottle to water the perimeter till I see it moistened down the sides with the smallest bit of runoff.
I’ve got my FF Ocean Forest in the pots now sitting in the tent (bagged to keep the moisture up to"factory") so it can come up to temp in preparation for transplant which I’m aiming for maybe Friday or Saturday. Roots are looking great as far as I can tell.
5 gallon pots prepped, one cup of water with a solo cup in place to hold the shape of the hole, went perfectly. Transplant went smooth as I could ask for. One more cup of water around the pot just outside canopy width… make them search for drink.
into the tent with the light at 25" and full strength.14 days above ground. The ladies don’t seem to have missed a beat from transplanting. Light seems good, still a little bit of taco curling but I don’t think I’m lowering power or raising the light. I’m watching the node spacing but also assuming it’s too early to be making that assessment quite yet?
So here’s a question for the people that know things. These plants show their needs. I just need to learn the “body language”. Longitudinally twisting leaves… what is this little thing saying it needs, or what caused the twisting?
Dang, I’m out. (but following along). i thought it looked good.
They look incomparably better than my first try as far as size and timeline. And I’m certainly not nervous about their appearance. But I assume that those rollercoaster profiles are suggesting something outside of optimal.
Excessive nitrogen. It’ll grow out of it though.
Hot soil. I don’t hate that. Thanks @Covertgrower
17 days a above ground. Node spacing is tight, so I guess a little more light distance next time for some extra stretch. Less light intensity? Or more distance? Can or should I try to get them to stretch a little more or has that ship sailed?
My next question is on training. Obviously I want to start early as possible so I’m not torturing my girls while they’re trying to flower.
My thoughts are top the photos, FIM the auto? I think I’m looking 5th nodes just showing up. Which means it’s about (or almost) time?
I’m looking for advice before I bite off more than I can chew, or screw this up. I’m into learning, I love trial and error. But I also love good advice.
So I’m seeing 3 to 5 nodes. This is a small tent and their permanent home. Should I be looking to make my cuts now? And are these actually accurate to what I should be looking for?
@Myfriendis410 @Not2SureYet @Hellraiser @merlin44Your plants are looking very good. Keep up the great work and you will be rewarded.
Your node labels are correct, top/fim if you want but don’t need to top if you’re going to bend them over (LST).
That makes sense to me. In that case I’m probably going to keep S&M 1 photo, it’s a good technique for me because I need to tinker, and I’m really interested in seeing what I can get these things to do. I might want to top the other photo to see how it responds since I learn best hands on. White Widow might be the only one getting a hair cut.
I’ll keep posting thoughts before I jump. I appreciate the feedback!!
No major changes. A little more thirsty and getting about 3 cups which is looking to last about 3 days before watering again. I am thinking I had more light than needed and kept these ladies to short… I raised the light to 32" and dropped back to about 50% power hoping to encourage a little extra stretch.
Will raising the light at this point help get a little extra height? @Hellraiser @Myfriendis410
Yes, raising the light will make them stretch for it.
