I really like the results I get from P and K boosters like Fox Farms Open Sesame/Beastie Bloomz/Cha Ching but I prefer to grow organic.
Can anyone recommend an organic P and K booster? I’m open to ideas whether it’s a dry amendment that gets top dressed, a liquid, or something to add to teas
If you’d like to stay with fox farm their organic dry stuff is good and not expensive if you have a local dealer there by you
If you are interested in a good read check out homesteadandchill site article name is how to feed cannabis organically… plus a bunch more on their site
Yes, I top dressed at about week 4, I think. My life is overbook right now but hopefully after 7/31 (my oldest is getting married), I can get back to growing and be ready to harvest soon. They will be nine weeks first week of August (that does not include the 2 week stretch).
Have u stopped in at @Hoppiefrog thread. He might have some good ideas. He does organic no till. Maybe he has some good ideas but i believe he brews up all his soils special
Potassium sulphate best for k, and definitely need that fbm it’s a must! Langbenite is great as well also a must, use potassium sulphate for instant uptake and as a k booster and to make corrections
USDA doesn’t certify potassium sulfate as organic last I seen. Age old argument there. Potassium and sulfur are both naturally occurimg elements. K²SO⁴ is synthesized compound of the two.
This stuff could have changed, and is liable to or potentially change again.
@Deez Chicken and fish bones for potassium…banana peels, human pee, hair, burned cucumber skins, mushroom compost for phosphorus…there’s ALOT just google:
“Organic potassium and phosphorus supplements for plants”….
So many articles and non chemical stuff
I should add most of these are prolly ground up and top dressed but so far THATS gonna be my preference on growing organic anyways….you too aside from teas and sprays (is my guess)
I was also worried about this with Langbeinite as I understand it’s naturally occurring mineral salt (correct me if I’m wrong please)
I know fish bone meal doesn’t take long to become available. Is Langbeinite similar? Can I add it during flowering or does it need months to break down and become usable?
When I mixed my soils I would add Langbeinite and Greensand while making the mix. This was my slow release method for adding K-Mag. I have now gone a different direction and growing in coco and using primarily Jacks. It’s funny your asking about Langbeinite. I was thinking about trying it and greensand in coco and was going to do a little reading / research about their use and effectiveness in coco.
I actually use a lot of green sand in my mix when I make it myself. Bonemeal and rock phosphate as well. A got on a kick of attempting high brix gardening a few years ago and have been putting way more minerals in my mix than I used to. It’s made a really noticeable difference in my vegetables.
