Does anyone use Optic Foliar Switch to prevent Hermies? I have used it in the past, and it definitely worked. However, I heard it was banned. I am in my first week of flower, and i’m thinking about using it again, but I don’t want to spray anything that is carcinogenic. I’m trying to do more research on it, but there isn’t much information. This might be a dumb question, but I am also wondering why you’re able to spray all kinds of things on your plants (like guano) that you cannot ingest, but things like Optic Foliar Switch have been banned?
It is still for sale on Amazon and can find no evidence anywhere on the web that is has ever been banned. All I could find on it is a story from 2016 that the product contained unacceptable levels of pesticides.
It looks like all it contains is extra potassium in a foliar spray. I see 2 issues with it. 1) not a good idea to apply nutrients as a spray. It invites other issues and the risks aren’t worth the possible benefit, and 2) you can increase your potassium less expensively by simply feeding more of whatever product you are using to feed potassium now.
I’ve seen numerous people say that it contains ethephon, and daminozide. Which is said to be carcinogenic. But you’re right, it is still for sale, but I can’t find anything about anyone using it recently. I also saw a video of the owner of Optic Foliar describing all of his products at some showcase, and he didn’t have switch there.
These types of products (bloom boosters) are snake oil, imho. Managing runoff PPM is all you need to do to ensure a cannabis plant is getting all of the nutrients it needs to be productive. To add additional crap risks nute burn.
