Opportunities to teach, am I on the right path?

@Adt187 I didn’t use perlite. I thought I was to use cal/mag at flowering (i think the bottle said). Should cal/mag be given at twice daily also? Do I just keep adding more water to the mix to get the ec to come down? Can I add all of my nutes to the same jug ( coco A&B , fox farm trio, cal/mag). I’ve got the original water numbers written down I’ll check them out tomorrow and sit down and do some math! I appreciate your knowledge!

When you say coco a & b what brand are you using?

If It is the Cana Coco A+B it is made for coco and May have enough calcium to keep the coco happy but keep an eye out for deficiencies and if they pop up add in a cal mag supplement.
You don’t need the fox farm nutes if you are using the Cana Coco. But I would suggest getting a silica supplement. Add it in first and let it sit for an hour or so to let it fully dissolve.

@Adt187 I use Canna coco A&B. I was originally going to use a soil to grow, and changed coco. Thank you for the advice! :v:

I have yellowing of leaves, after i neglected to check for more run off. She was sitting in some for about 12 hrs. Photos of leaves and my daily notes from the start of occurring (~3days). Last night I added cal/mag to the feed water, forgot to write that in. Any suggestions?

The point about runoff is you need to “drain to waste”. You can’t let the plant sit in the runoff or the coco will absorb it back up. Put your pot on a riser inside the tray. When you water to run off drain the tray, or build self draining saucers.
The pant looks really good, might have slight cal deficiency so I would keep adding it. Keep pH stable, should be fine

I have a catch tray under it but it doesn’t lift up as much as I thought, so it got soaked… lesson learned on that and working on a fix. I added cal/mag to my feed 2 days ago. :crossed_fingers:t2:all is well with her. I’m glad she’s looking ok, thanks!

My lady is doing well! And, I believe, is in the flowering stage. I’ve noticed some roots coming out of the top of the coco. I’m worried she may get root bound. Can anyone coach me on what I would or can do? I don’t want to transplant her now, but I don’t want root rot. Advice? It’s an auto, should I be concerned about trimming back some leaves?

She’s currently in a 5 gal pot

I’ve noticed that that her roots are growing through all the drain holes in my pot. I’m worried i have to transplant her (very carefully) into a much deeper container or she’ll get root bound. I could really use some advice please!

I would cover the top roots just for protection. Youre in a hard container correct?

She is in a hard pot, 5gal of canna coco 100%. It’s my first time growing so I’m not 100% sure, but i thinks she’s just getting out of the veg stage. Her roots are growing through all of the bottom drain holes in the hard pot by about 2 inches.

@ChittyChittyBangin has you going in the right direction Growmie! My only suggestion is to empty the catch pan after run off, you don’t want those roots sucking that back in :love_you_gesture:

I was not expecting her roots to outgrow her room! I’m having a hard time even getting any run off the last 2 days… could this mean she is soaking it all up, or she’s sitting in it in the pot where it may be root bound? In the last 2 days I’ve not noticed any yellowing, browning or drooping from her, so that’s good news!

As @OGIncognito recommended catch your runoff and get rid of it. Watch for discoloration. I grow in 5 gal pots, but fabric. Youre roots are probably looking for oxygen and trying to breathe. If you do transplant, get some 10 gal fabric pots.

I would recommend feeding or watering to run off regardless how much it takes then let it go through the dry cycle and repeat, always testing PH and PPms of both input and run off :love_you_gesture:

@ChittyChittyBangin fabric pots are now on my list for next round! Thanks for explaining the oxygen need, I didn’t even think of that.
@OGIncognito I’ll be feeding to run off regardless and let it cycle through to dry. I’m a reaserch analyst, so I love documenting data

Thanks you guys, I’m truly thankful for your advice! :v:

There is no need to worry. 5 gallons is plenty big enough. The roots will air prune and your plant will be fine.
Also do not let your coco dry out like someone said. Keep feeding to 20% runoff. Get your plant on a riser in the tray. Don’t let runoff sit, discard it after testing EC.
