Opinions on air flow in RDWC buckets

I’m trying something new to get away from air stones. I drilled about 25 1/8 inch holes in some heavy rubber tubing and formed it in a circle in the bottom of each grow bucket.
I’m not sure about the air flow I’m getting.
Can you guys tell me what you think?.

Looks good to me

An air stone produces very small bubbles that does a better job of oxygenating liquid. Would recommend not using tubing with holes drilled.

Agreed. This looks more than adequate at the surface but there’s no way to tell if the bubbles are dissolving into the solution.

I’ve thought of that but I’m also thinking with that air spraging through there 24/7 wouldn’t that oxygenate the water adequately?

One way to find out lol

The Blue stones are the best and clean up in peroxide just fine.

I don’t engineer to that level lol. It may be fine. I’m just pretty sure the purpose of the stone is to attempt getting oxygen dissolved, and the larger the bubble the less this happens. Water temp and other variables also impact this some.

Another thing you have to watch for is water siphoning to your pump. I’m pretty sure check valves for this are available and wouldn’t be a bad idea if you don’t already have.

The Mods got you covered Growmie. I would add that along with dissolving better, having smaller bubbles allows them to become trapped in the root zone.
I run DWC and consider airstones as a consumable. I’ll clean them between nute changes but replace them with every new grow. Just my 2 pennies. Happy Pharming!

you need the air stones growmie… like others have said the large air bubbles are just not what you need for good nutrient absorption…
