1 week update on the clones I took from my clones…
Friday September 18th evening I transplanted from 3 gallon to 5gall fabric pots.
I also switched from the basic triple mix soil I had been using to FF ocean forest
Transplant seems to have gone really well and I’m thinking about 5 days until I flip to flower. They are reaching the screen and I need to make a decision on where I want to have the screen when I flip. I’m thinking a few inches above the current position…
Not speaking from much experience but you can always flip and adjust as necessary. You can move the net until you start tieing or weaving.
Do you plan on training to screen? Need plants to start reaching through it first if so, or lower. If not, then fire away.
I’m thinking that I’m going to have to tie down the taller branches to allow the others to catch up. Also I don’t have much (or any) more room to grow them any taller. Might be pushing it to the limit as it is with vertical space.
For training, do I literally just tie down the taller branches and guide them in the direction of blank space?
You shouldn’t need to tie them. Just push back under the screen in the direction you want it to go.
Perfect! That’s what I was hoping to get away with. This is getting exciting. 4 days until I flip
Thanks again for the help
One other thing, should I be trying to get the lights to 100% before I flip? I’ve been turning them up, but very slowly as I had the light burn issue. Probably about 60% at this point. Think I’m answering my own question here, but likely best to keep turning up really slowly even if it’s 2-3 weeks into flowering when I get them up near 100%
That’s exactly what I do. Usually do hit them full power until after transition.
So, as for the clones, it looks like I have had a 6/6 success rate. Roots looking good!
The problem is I don’t know what I’m going to do with them, lol. Not a terrible problem to have I suppose. The mothers are in my 4x4 and switching to flower in a few days. So, with these clones being ready for transplant, I’m looking at a veg time of at least 2 months while the others flower.
I guess my question is if there is a way to delay transplant without harming the clones, or good strategy to keeping them small during vegetative stage while I wait to clear out the 4x4. The only other space I have (in a tent) is the 1x4 propagation section of my tent. I think I’m just getting carried away, but the idea was to keep the cycle going with clones.
Probably need another whole tent setup?
Or just keep trimming back the clones to keep them contained in the 1x4 space?
As long as you have two spaces you can make the 1x4 work. I used a 1x3.
Small pots, low light intensity with predominantly blue light.
I’ve got this weak blurble. I can set it to have only the blue lights on. Will that do the trick for at least a little while?
Should work for a little bit
I also have the bottom half of my 1x4 propagation area set up with a 4 ft long, T5 60W. I can turn one bulb off to make it 30W.
Maybe that would be better and can use it longer?
a 4’ t5 is usually 54 watts per bulb i thought. Are you sure its not a t8 or t12?

Wrong link, that’s the 2ft version
And leds, not t5. A lot of those fixtures are marketed as t5 replacements but at half the power. Most of them don’t have twice the efficacy.
My bad.
But will work with the clones for a while and I’ll just start in small pots?
I think so
