On a whim to becoming hooked

Haha I know right? I was going to use a 16oz Monster Energy can as comparison but thought that was a bit much :yum:.

Ok setting a new tentative stem split day for the big cola girl. January 27th and harvest date for January 31st. That’ll put her at 11 weeks. Of course I may delay due to her not being ready but she definitely is at least two weeks away from maybe more. Glad I didn’t harvest her too soon.

Ok things change so damn quickly. Overnight she turned 10-15% amber. I’m bringing the stem split day drastically up… Like tonight I’m thinking. I’m just shocked at how fast that happened. I have one of those she’s done feeling not an unsure feeling. I just watered yesterday so I can cut her down in 4 days and she’ll be a day over my watering schedule (I’ll skip obviously). So exciting!

Yup stem splitting isn’t easy. Couldn’t get a skewer through and I don’t have any popsicle sticks so hopefully this will do. It has begun.

Cool @Tylan… for me, this is where the rubber hits the road… what I mean is getting the harvest timing down is a science in itself. My first grow, my trichomes never turned amber and I feel I should have harvested like 2 weeks earlier than I did… hope your plant gets frosty from stem split!.. also, not sure but you may not want to leave knife in?.. I usually see wood or plastic… may want to check with more knowledgeable folks

Thanks @Zombo! My first harvest so pretty nerve wracking…I feel I did good for a first timer but I’m sure there will be lessons to be learned and that’s fine :sunglasses:

Omg that looks half done brother, after getting the blade in there i use a screwdriver and and a hammer, gently, and then you’ll have the space to put in a stick, I use a wooden magnum lolly stick but it’s to block the flow, hope that helps

You look like an old pro from what I’ve seen… @daz49 has stem split quite a bit… he uses a wooden ice cream stick…

Thanks, it looks to me that you have made a great start, but with the blade that’s when it can get a bit stiff but push through and then like I said follow through with the screwdriver, that’s in my opinion bro

I value your opinion @daz49. Thanks for pointing that out.

How’d I do now?

I was literally sweating while doing it @AnneBonny. I broke about 10 skewers and I finally said f it and jammed the knife in wiggled it around and said “whatever I’m done!” haha. Then when I went back with a screwdriver and hammer the stem was ready and I just slid the skewer in without an issue lol.

Ok so I’m thinking of splitting there stem on the other one soon as well. She’s 90% cloudy. Might do her after I harvest the other one to give her a few more days.

Gotta clean the lens on my endoscope it’s getting blurry pictures.

This is a shot of the trichomes on the one I just stem split

Looks good on the one you just split. I’m not terribly picky, and as long as they packed on some weight you’re good. It’s on you for preference.
The others are quite a bit clear just yet. There were others that split the stem at this point and they quickly turned milky. Up to you @Tylan
