Funny story about the history of The Doobies Black Water - It was never intended to be released as a single by the record company or band. An FM rock station in Roanoke Virginia, Q99, one of the old school album rock stations, and only about 50 miles from where I grew up and cut my teeth on Q99, started playing it locally here and it became a huge local hit. When they came here on the supporting tour and heard the response from the crowd and I guess heard the story they decided to release it as a single.
It went on to become their first #1 song.
And all because of a little old rock station in my listening area.
Sadly Q99 has changed formats many times since those days and I guess is pretty much lite pop and rock from the last 4 or 5 decades. UGG!
