@Hogmaster I went to Monterey saw Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendricks guitar burn and on and on. I cannot begin to tell how wonderful and magical those times were, the music, the people, the life style of course the weed (and I do mean that literally) lmao. And the times they were a changin’, most of us grew up in the 50’s an entirely different planet we fought so hard for change and just think if ‘they’ would have listened to our cry for peace we wouldn’t be where we are today. Since war doesn’t work ‘Let’s Give Peace a Chance’ Here is a pic of my 1st ‘piece’, I bought it in 1966 at The Warlock Shop in Pacific Beach, it was well used, none of us could twist up a dube for squat, still has resin in it, the wood has cracked many times. Also here is my poster that came in the first Bob Dylan ‘album’ an original, and yes there are fold marks but that’s how it came. I think it would be a blast to have a place where people could share their beginnings, old photos, etc. Thanks for lending your ear. I remember how my dad hated that poster and really got pissed when I burned Rani incense!
@highcountrygal. definitely share those stories with your kidos or your friends. It’s not every day you run across someone who actually knows what flower power means.
I remember those incense days. I was in India not too long ago and they still burn a lot of incense. In there cabs, in their street side stores. You’re sitting there and all the old memories start coming back.
Wow see you got to travel so you have seen and experienced things I never will (I’ve only been on 5 airplanes in my life) I grew up surfing in the Pacific but never learned to dive, however, after watching all of the Blue Planets’ and Shark stuff you wouldn’t catch me knee deep. I’ll let you in on a little secret if you promise not to tell:wink: I am an avid gardener and have been for over 50 yrs and growing roses, weed, vegies is basically the same, they all require water, food and a growing environment except ‘the girls’ get to listen to me sing and there it is!!! I would just like to say Thank you to all of you for giving me such a warm welcome, finally people with intelligence and know how and are kind and friendly, what a treasure I came upon when I fell in here! A lovely bunch of coconuts
Wow those are way cool!!!
@highcountrygal. I feel the same way. You couldn’t have said it any better.
@Flyr I was lucky no kids I didn’t want someone to do the things to me that I did to my Mom!!!lol Anyone that knows me knows the history I am a talker esp. about that era, I get diarrhea of the fingers on here, no duh! Here is a cool story I just switched Dr’s and when I first met the new Doc he told me about his background and part of his story was that he practiced out of a backpack when he first started to practice. I looked at him and said ‘you are too young to be a Digger’, He asked what a Digger was and I explained about The Haight and Digger’s and he then ask me if I was a Hippie and of course I said 100%. He then made the most profound statement to me (and I don’t know why, yet) ‘I was raised by Hippies, my mom hitchhiked across the country’ Blew me away!
Awesome @Flyr that you started a journal! Set to watching
Great start! @Laurap gave you good advice about it being time to transplant. Definitely less water. Let em dry out so the roots can hunt for water.
@highcountrygal this is the best forum going! Everyone here is someone that you would like to smoke a bowl with haha!
@Laurap, I’m taking your advice and planning a potting party this weekend. Question, how easy is it to transplant one of the girls from a 5 gallon cloth pot to a 15 gallon cloth pot? How do you do it without damaging the girl? Do you cut the edges of the 5 gallon, peel the sides away and then place it into the 15 gallon cloth pot? Transplanting a 5 gallon plant is no easy task, especially without damaging roots. It’s not like you can turn the plant over in one hand and lift the pot off.
@bob31, Here’s you support ticket

Two of the Northern Lights are in solo cups and 3 Gold Leaf in 4" peet squares. One of the NL girls have taken off. I’m transplanting in a couple days. I didn’t have any 5 gallon cloth pots yet and I was wondering if I can just go ahead and transplant into 15 gallon cloth pots? Or is it better to gradually enlarge pots? Thanks for your help guys.
@Myfriendis410 How refreshing to find real people! I have learned so much in such a short time!
How do you guys feel about transplanting the little girls into 15 gallon cloth pots instead of gradually enlarging their pots?
You must be in a legal area and going outdoors. Im in a illegal area so indoors is only choice so i only go up to 5 gallon pots. I know @bob31, @Myfriendis410 and @Rugar89 have some good knowledge in larger pots outdoors so ive tagged them in for advice.
5 gallons is usually plenty big enough. 15 gallons would be way overkill.
It would add the expense of the additional soil, nutrients and water as they need to be watered to runoff once they reach veg stage. 15 gallon bags would require a tremendous amount of unneeded resources!
The 5 gallon bags are pretty reasonable

There are other options, but these are what I use @Flyr
That’s exactly what I needed to know. @Laurap, I’m trying my hand at an indoor grow. I don’t really have time to build a structure to prevent the deer from eating everything.
5 gal pots work very well I had one plant that went 7’ tall. They get root bound but it doesn’t seem to matter to them. They are easier to lift or move. 15 gal of plant and moist soil would be difficult to move if nec. Plus you will use 3x the amount of water etc Just a thought to ponder on.
@Flyr transplanting into a giant space from whence they came is not a good thing they will be overwhelmed, maybe go to a gal. size till they are established and strong then go to your big container, they should be fine then.
Dont think youd ever need a 15 gallon inside. Plus youd have to have a hellaof a big tent to get more than one plant. Remember they are only growing 3-4 months. Not a 6 month towering monster grow outside. Ive got a 4 x4 x 72 tent & only can get 4 max inside. If you cram too many in youre only getting light to tops & middle is hid from light. Exposing more to all your plant gets you a better yield.
Thanks you very much ladies. I need to remember indoors is a little different than outdoors.
