Second year growing, outside, 15 gallon fabric. 11 weeks old, good light sun up to sun down but only about 10 hours direct sunlight. I have been using FF big bloom and grow big once a week. I want to switch to Tiger bloom but I’m not sure if we are in the flowering stage yet.
It’s not an either/or. You should be feeding all 3. Don’t move away from Big Bloom and Grow Big. Big bloom contains the micronutrients your plant needs all the way to harvest. Some may recommend going away from Grow Big (nitrogen) during flower. This is a mistake. The plant’s most rapid growth will be the first 5 weeks of flowering during the stretch and nitrogen is critical during this period as it is nitrogen that powers that growth. Nitrogen can be reduced, but not eliminated, 5 weeks into flowering.
As Midwest said, feed veg nutrients into flower until vertical growth has stopped.
Updated feeding schedule… @MidwestGuy - you may want to update your reference.
I use a version that reduces the target PPM, as many growers use 1/2 to 3/4 of the recommended schedule. PPMs around 2,000 are just too high imho.
The big change was (I believe) the removal of Flower Kiss, and the addition of CalMag. I think they also adjusted the recommended dose of Grow Big in veg.
Thanks for the info. I downloaded the schedule but I’m always concerned about over fertilizing. I’m not sure how to check the ppm and ec. I have the tds and ph meters. I did check the soil ph awhile ago. I don’t remember the exact # but it was in the acceptable range. I’m also not sure about how to go about checking the ph on the run off. Should I flush the plants and attempt to capture some runoff? The plants are in 15 gallon fabric pots so it’s not easy to capture the runoff.
I tend to keep it simple. Here’s what I do. I follow the schedule (top to bottom - all products). I feed every other watering at full strength, and I watch the leaf tips. They will show over-feeding first. If they get beyond this, I will skip a feeding, and then resume the schedule. Also, be sure to do the Sledgehammer flushes.
I don’t bother checking any runoff numbers unless I see an issue developing.
Being outside in 15 gallon pots, if someone hasn’t or you aren’t already, I recommend the Sledgehammer flushes. At least 1 or 2 of them. Especially on the deck. The bags dry out quicker from the heat and all those dried up nutes that get left in there can cause some root issues. The other guys @Newt and @MidwestGuy grow some killer buds using FF and have some great info.
Could you imagine feeding 2,100 ppm of fox farms…. You’d be better off feeding death sea water…
