Nutrient burn or what?

Is this nutrient burn? I have 5 plants. I’ve fed them all the same amount of nutrients but only this one shows this color

Kind of hard to tell from the info given. Do you have a copy of a support ticket you could populate and post? It can give fellow growers a plethra of info to evaluate from so they can best help you out.

The bigger pecentange of the time it’s a pH issue. I’m leaning that way since you’re treating all 5 the same way. The pH in this one may have drifted for one reason or another. Do you test your pH?

I would think it’s more likely to be a deficiency than too many nutrients. If you are concerned about nutrient burn, flush the plant then give it a drink of liquid fertilizer straight after. See how it goes then.

I would probably try a liquid fertilizer for a week before flushing and see if it helps.

I am new to this all. This is only my third grow. I grow outdoors so couldn’t answer some of the questions. The plant looks a little better today
I started using Jack’s 321 at half strength and do that every other watering
So when I water, after the soil dries a bit, am I to water to run off every time?

So I just started using jacks 321 at half strength. So if I flush should I flush with just water til run off and then water with the Jack’s to run off?

You need to allow the medium to dry out almost to the point of plant wilting. Do the ‘pot lift’ method and only water when pot is dry. Using Jack’s you should be at your 900 ppm full strength target and your choice whether to water to runoff while using it. You would not need to flush with Jack’s either.

FYI I would suggest adding silica to your mix. If using it; silica goes in first, then everything else.

Oh wow I would never have known about silica. Is that something common I can get wherever?

And how much to add per gallon?

Potassium silicate is available through most nutrient lines. Follow package directions.

Hey, @Gam64 Sorry, my wifi’s been down and cell signal here can be iffy most of the time.

I don’t grow in coco so I don’t know too much about it but I can tag a few growers that do if you need.

I noticed in your support ticket you put N/A for the pH measurement of your water/feed and runoff. Are you measuring your pH going in? It’s real important to have the pH right or it can cause a load of problems - deficiencies, nute lockup. :v:

@d-Jawz I’m like the new guy who I’m sure gives good growers like you a chuckle. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: m trying to learn. Just my third grow and everything outdoors. And no I do not measure PH of nutrients. Now I learned something else. What kind of meter should I get?

Don’t think any of us who started off right where you are, are laughing at anyone. I’ve been growing since 2021 and I’m still learning.

I don’t grow in coco but I know the pH of fluid going in needs to be 5.8 to 6.2, and I believe the same for the run-off. You can pick up an inexpensive pH pen and TDS (total dissolved solids) pen from Amazon or grow supply vendors like Vivosun or Spider Farmer and I think AC Infinity has one too. The nicer and maybe more reliable would be from Apera or Bluelab, and there are others. I use the Apera PC60, it covers both pH and TDS/EC (electrical conductivity).

I don’t grow outdoors (yet) or in coco. Have you been reading up throughout this forum for info? This is where I learned most of what I know to this point. I’ll tag up a couple growers who might know who uses coco outdoors @SausageMahoney @Darran @Growdoc @plumbdand @Gl1tch

My memory is like a sieve, I can’t remember who grows indoors or out, or what they use for medium. And the better I get at growing, the worse my memory gets - funny how that works  But one of these fellow growmies will be able to point you in the right direction.

I do both, but no coco outside for me. My greenhouse girls are in Promix and perlite, 5 gallon bags. The garden girls are in the ground with about a ten gallon hole dug out and filled with my compost. Inside is coco , Promix, and perlite in Tent and coco and perlite in the big room with the Truffle and Runtz. All inside girls are in Autopots, so I just check the PH of the res every morning, usually add a bit of ph down as white vinegar and mix new res every 3 days when they are eating good.

I grow outdoors in the ground I don’t use coco. I mix my own soil I dont ph my water once they are transplanted out of solo cups. I dont feed liquid nutrients. I do a couple of top dressings and some teas to feed the microbes.

Good morning all. @Myfriendis410 is spot on. From what Ive read, we need to get your pH down around 5.8 in the coco. I run straight coco with jacks as well. I run jacks at the the actual 321 it usually brings me in around 1300 ppm. I run this from seed soak to harvest. I water 2 times a day. The outdoor plants are thriving.

Yours doesnt look to bad for 3.5 weeks. Its typical on your first few grows to be a concerned with anomalies. Its also prudent. I think you’re okay. Maybe a little overwatering? Its tricky with coco because it drains so well. Just keep checking back as frequently as needed. Get a pH pen so you can test your input pH. Keep us updated and you’ll get it squared away. Every master was once a fool. This is the by far the most informative, encouraging and helpful place to learn.
