Not Sure if my Trics are ready please help

I grew 2 photos indoors , flipped them at 3 months & they have been in flower for 5 weeks. There is some amber but not sure if it’s enough. I do like a 50/50 high but chronic is good too. Please check out my tric pics. Some are withering away while some are clear. Honest opinions only :innocent:

You have 4 to 5 weeks to go yet before looking at trichomes.

Be sure to look at trichs on flower rather than on the sugar leaves. Those on sugar leaves go amber much more quickly and you don’t smoke the sugar leaves anywhoo.

Awe lord! I was hoping to chop this week.
I’m guessing photos have the same flowering time as autos? 8-9 weeks?

Sometimes photos can take 10+ weeks

Oh boy :woman_facepalming:Perfect! Thanks for the insight. Keeping a close eye on the trics now but I think I”ll stick with my autos. It fun to grow a huge plant, though! :peace_symbol: :raising_hand_woman:t2:

@JAQ youll change your mind. Ive had photos finish faster than autos. Its all about the strain growbro…it also depends on when you flip.

@ChittyChittyBangin Really? I flipped mine as soon as the autos were done at 3 months so I would have enough room. When do you flip yours? Are you growing them just like an auto? This strain is Agent Orange. Do tell…

agree, and recommend possible fan leaf trim, open colas?

I guess it is time to take some leaves. I”ll be tying the colas to the ceiling as they are on the verge of snapping from the weight.

I have flipped as early as 3 weeks and as late as 6 months. Ive grown autos with photos on 12/12 and 18/6. I had a G13 that took forever and a sunset sherbert that finished 3 weeks before that. When you look at seeds, the flower time in a general idea in ideal commercial conditions. Many things factor in harvest time such as trichome color, ect. If im real heavy on lst and training, it can take 8 weeks or more of veg to recover and get where i want before flipping to flower. Photos are alot more forgiving.

Why would you flip at 3 weeks? Doesn’t seem like they would get that big or at least the same size as autos. Are you growing them like that because of the strain? I can see where that would work.

Depends on how much area i have to work with. When i say 3 week veg thats 5 weeks from breaking soil. If they are large enough 3cweeks into veg then i can flip and can expect them to triple in size.

Gotcha. Makes perfect sense. I”ll grow a couple with my autos but it just extends the growing time. I was hoping for an early chop cause I need to get house da house!! Thank you! :green_heart:

What is your plan for July 4th ? Chop party
Chop hang, wet or dry trim? bag sweat, dry and cure,
and the kicker, 3-6 months aging on a shelf?

It’s looking like a red , white, blue & Green chopping party! Heavy wet trim then they’re going into the fridge for 2 weeks.
Then 2 days in paper bags to finish drying.
A final trimming & into grove bags.
What I don’t get is why is amber showing up so early? So confused.

@JAQ Just had a closer look at your pics up top.
Seems like most of the amber spots don’t have any tric heads.
Abrasion from handling will def cause it.
The amber you’re seeing there is oxidation of the remaining tric stem due to the missing head.

When the bud trics start to amber it’s because they’ve swollen from ripeness and burst making contact with the air which will cause the amber that we look for to determine harvest.
Same oxidation process for both.

Hope it makes sense.

Thanks man! It makes perfect sense. I have to squeeze by the plants & I brush up against the same spots almost every time. I used to turn them but they are just too big now. I”ll have to tie the colas to the ceiling. Much appreciated :sunglasses::green_heart::raising_hand_woman:t2:
