How’s it going everyone I’m just curious the pro’s and con’s of tight node spacing, created a cross a few years back and this pheno has the tightest node spacing I have ever seen any info appreciated, thanks in advance!!
Wow thats tight, wish they were all like that
Likely due to having great lighting, as lighting controls node spacing. Tight node spacing is desirable, but having nodes too close together can lead to airflow issues within the canopy, and this can lead to less photosynthesis and it also presents a mold risk since airflow is constrained.
@MidwestGuy copy that I had them in my AC infinity 3x3 advance grow tent set up, light was at 38" away from canopy at 100% reason being is because at 100% it helped with keeping the interior temp stable for young plants
Got it. You can encourage them to stretch out a little by backing off the lighting intensity a bit.
It’s a good problem to have.
That specific one has been moved to the greenhouse so it’s should allow for some stretching to occur now!!
@MidwestGuy could it just be a specific pheno that is more easily affected by light?? My other’s didn’t act this way
Some do this genetically and light intensity won’t make a difference. I’ve had quite a few like that… it’s not necessarily a bad thing or a good thing. It just makes defoliation a pain, and getting air flow a little more difficult. If it’s genetic when they go to flower the stretch usually seems limited.
After reading your comment about your light being 38” away I’d almost bank on genetics.
@Low thanjs for the info!! I’ll have to see how it turns out during later veg!!
Everything about that plant screams happy.
Genetics definitely play a roll in that formation, it wants to do nothing more then branch out and become a bush because it has all it needs from its environment to support itself.
I had a plant awhile back similar to that, super compact and then it just branched out… so many tops! This is her on day 19 from sprout.
Oh wow they do look similar, that’s awesome!!!
