No Signs of Flowering

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.

“I planted the seeds that I purchased outside in my garden. It is almost 9 weeks now and I do not see any sign of flowering? Will I have to wait until the amount of sunlight is balanced as the season change again at the end of the summer for the plants to flower?”

If the seeds were a photo variety, you’ll have to wait for the days to shorten. If they are of an auto variety, they should have started flowering by now.

Sounds like you are growing a photo period plant in which case it won’t start flowering until the days get shorter. As long as she looks healthy you should be good to go.

Thank you all for responding. Can I artificially encourage flowering by shading the plants? Is there an article here that explains how to do that? TIA

I’ve never tried to myself but if it might be possible but the plant would need to be in complete darkness in order for it to work I would imagine.
