Newbiedude's 1st grow - ILGM Banana Kush Auto's

thank you very much for the 411. another question if you will. that hlg throws a lot of heat down onto the plants. i have one of those rh/temp meters laying in the pot with the plants. temps steadily run into the mid 80’s. i have a fan blowing across them. is that temp like way to high? i have the big vent fan running nearly wide open.

78 is ideal, your temp sounds a bit warm yes.
Do you have a non Black temp gauge you can hang? I prefer to hang one so it’s not sitting on the soil directly and black absorbs light and thus heat so that may be not telling the true temp.

I would strong suggest getting a Bluetooth temp monitor that you can see a 24/7 graph.
These are my favourite, they can also be calibrated.
You will find the very cheap temp and humidity sensors that are tiny like you have are fairly innacure.
I would suggest one of these, and you can add more when you eventually cure you will want in your cure container ( get large grove bags and cure everything from one plant in one container rather then a bunch of small glass jars)

thanks nicky! i have a larger, i’m assuming more accurate rh/temp meter, just not bluetooth, setting in the tent. it also has a remote temp sensor. it does read within a degree or so of what the little black boxes are saying. maybe i need to put another fan in there blowing up from the bottom towards the light to try to deflect some of that heat. the room that the tent is in is always about 74 degrees.

Where does your exhaust fan ducting vent to?

into the room. but it’s a larger room. i guess i should put a temp stick in here to actually measure it. i suppose measuring the temp of the air coming out of the vent may be a good indicator also since the flap at the back and bottom of the tent is where it gets it’s intake from.

i show 65% rh and 75 degrees coming out of the exhaust vent

Ideally you want to vent to outside but if your omly growing 2 plants or something and you can vent into a different room you might be okay, co2 is one of largest bottlenecks in growing and as the air circulates it’s just becoming more and more oxygen rich which is bad for plant growth but good for you haha.

78 is ideal but 75 sounds better then mid to high 80s

thank you very much for your time. a nudge in the correct direction or a little affirmation that you’re doing something right, or at least not to terribly wrong is a confidence booster.

so today the first plant is 19 days since seed popped it’s head above ground. here is a pic before my first ever attempt at LST and fimming. she’s at the fifth node now.

and here she is bent over and fimmed:

that was nerve wracking to do but I managed to do it without breaking her so I guess that’s up one point on the confidence scale to do it to the other plant.

she may not be bent over exactly at a 90 degree but was concerned about getting her bent too far over into the pot since the soil has done some settling and she is not as close to the top of the pot as perhaps she should have been. also did a tad bit of trimming on the leaves that were on the top and trimmed ones touching the dirt.

she’s also got some good smell to her. i know it will get a lot more intense with age and flower but loving that smell as it is now.

here is the second plant, just watered and 17 days since it popped it’s head out of the soil.

Looks like you are on your way! Wishing you success!

thanks Calizona! this is a lot of fun so far. i have finally given up looking at them every hour just to see how they are coming along. got it tuned down to a couple of times a day or so now. dang, just like a kid with a new toy.

and here is a pic of girl 1 two days after her first LST, FIM and then a little further trimming this morning. hope I didn’t over do it.

You’ll be surprised how well they bounce back. You did good

Thanks Calizona! It’s neat too see how they are able to spread out like that. girl #1 seemed to have responded pretty good so far. Limbs are stretching upwards already. nothing yet at the fim site but it’s only on the second day of it so i know too give it more time to see if it responds favorably.

just a pic update:

girl1 at 24 days old

girl 2 at 22 days old. I think girl 2 has pretty much caught up with her older sister.
