Newb Ontario Outdoor grow

Looking very well from the high vantage point where I am now LoL

Both plants growing strong despite cloudy weather.
Did notice that the leaves on the node below the cut pointed themselves upwards somewhat. Otherwise very happy seemingly.

@Packof3 dem some fine looking Ladies! You’ve got more trimmings than I’ve got leaves lol

@Unicron I stripped them pretty good today. I’ll be interested to see how they look in 3-5 days.

My two girls are officially outdoor only plants now. Getting their first day of the full outdoor cycle. I was bringing them back to the light for the remaining of 20/4 cycle.

Nerve wracking lol

@Unicron So we are at about 15.5 hours of daylight right now so they should be fine. You could always transition them slowly over a week or 2 with the light cycle, meaning go a couple of days at 19/5, 18/6, and so on till you get close to what’s outside. I don’t think they will flip to flower, you should be ok.
How’s the topping and fimming looking.

@Packof3 Yeah, I hear you on tapering the time I thought similar last night. Landed on keeping them outside because realistically I don’t think my cobbled together ‘pot’ light has sufficient intensity to do them much good anymore. Given that we’ve only just passed the solstice I figured time was right to move on, as I’m not equipped large plant indoor growing. As you say, there should be enough light for them not to flip, but i’ll keep an eye out regardless.

So updating on the ladies:

#2 has definitely formed a nice Y shape with two new tops, seems very happy. Counting that as a complete success. How much recovery time do you give them between toppings? 1-2 weeks I would assume.

#1 post FIMing appears to be developing 4 new tops, but more experienced eyes may correct me on that. Probably a couple of days and we’ll know for sure.

Pictures come up shortly.

@Unicron glad to hear you’re having success. Yeah, when I top I wait a couple of weeks solely for the reason that I need to be able to physically see what I’m doing, as opposed to feeling like I’m in the operating room performing brain surgery under 100x magnification.
When I can comfortably see a good top, with some small branches coming from that node site I top there.

Topped lady (#2)

FIMed lady (#1)

An update for my grow.

No dramatic changes, both of my ladies appear to be happy and healthy; vegging out in the morning sun.

My inexperienced eyes cannot yet tell if the FIMing on #1 has been successful. Picture here is someone more knowledgeable has some insight.

Another question for other outdoor growers. How do you handle nutrients when getting rain? Do you just wait until normal moisture levels and water, or something else…?

@Packof3 - appreciated for the update reminder.

I’m growing outdoors in the ground and so far it’s been raining ALOT….regardless of the wet soil I still feed regularly. I know I’ll prolly get corrected or told there’s a better way to do it but it works for me :facepunch:t2:

@Unicron they are vibing out for sure. keep up with whatever your doing. if not feeding maybe should look at some veg nutes. something with higher nitrogen on the NPK. they will likely appreciate a little boost!

If we are experience days of heavy rain I like to simply monitor the soil. Water/feed like normal according to when the soil feels right. If my soil is damp and the plant ‘realy’ doesn’t need to drink any more I won’t feed them.
I would assume your soil contains enough stored nutrients in it to last a few weeks. Your plants look like they are doing good. Solid work!
Happy growing…

Makes sense, thanks all. Definitely continuing to monitor the moisture level level in the soil. Given how much it’s been raining lately it might be an extra day or two before they need more.

Yes, they should hopefully have plenty of nutrition left in the soil, I just wanted to confirm I wasn’t missing something.

Moving them to their final 10g pots tomorrow which should hopefully given them a big boost.

Packof3, how long before I can top #2 again do you think? Do I need to leave a node in between? If no, I’m thinking I’ll do it after the transplant shock has gone.

For #1, I’m still unclear if the FIM has had the desired effect. More time I guess.

More pics tomorrow after the repotting.

@Unicron I’d say maybe 2 nodes before topping again. This should be an indication of node spacing and topping results

That plant was the runt as I topped it at the first node hoping to do a manifold, but she stunted and then just let her go.

My 4 baby girls this evening. Got them staked with some fencing wire to hold them. Squirrels are back and one is getting through the chicken wire.

I’ve also done a little experimenting since it’s been rainy, I’ve actually added a dry amendment to a couple plants and one is doing VERY well for what I’ve already put it through. Can add a picture if ya want. I feel like organic soil and dry amending is probably the easiest:best (once you’ve figured out the soil composition) based on only really needing to add water throughout the grow…and this can be done in containers as I refuse to believe “impossibility” is actually possible when growing this plant hence the 20 foot tall pictures you see of one plant that was probably grown in such a manner

@grizZz I couldn’t agree more. I too just donehat feels right and don’t try to overthink it. Let’s see some updated pics of your garden.

Oh, and the big ladies got a full flush tonight. Purging salts. Will feed with Bloom nutes at their next watering.
