Set it and forget it man. Its every bit as easy as some NL#5. This is my second go round with silver haze. I grew it this summer. Definitely wasn’t the most impressive plants of the bunch but it yielded some nice smoke.
This is ILGM Super silver haze. Prior to this I never really even smoked any variant of his that I could safely say that I liked. I’ve always found hazes to be Either not potent enough to get me off or just very sleepy. Who knows, maybe I’ve just never had it grown well
Whatever it is that silver haze has all the goods.
Well I’m pretty pissed off at myself this morning. I thought I’d sneak in between jobs and snap a picture with natural lighting just as the grow light was coming on. I am pretty much set it and forget it with my ballast so needless to say I’ve forgotten whether my ballast has an on off switch or if I just need to switch it off at the timer. In looking all over my ballast for a switch I glanced at the power setting dial which has settings for 50, 75, 100, and super lumen. I had intended to be running it at 100% but turns out it’s been at 75% the entire time. Fuck. me. The wasted potential makes me fucking sick. Here I am questioning my methods and wondering why I’m not getting the kind of results I expect from 1000 Watts of light. And turns out I’m not getting those kinds of results because I’m not giving them 1000 watts of fucking light.
At least my buds look nice. The Maui has already been frosting with trichomes for weeks now so it’s too late to regain anything I’ve lost in terms of production from that plan. At least the silver haze and the sour D have another four weeks to soak up the additional light.
Thank you for the positive angle @spankyjr1 its much appreciated.
Thankfully my set up can handle the extra heat just fine so full powa! i assume “super lumens” is like turning it up to 11. I also assume that’s gonna burn my light and my ballast out quicker. Anyone have any experience with that?
Everyone is enjoying the extra light in the tent. Hard to tell if it’s just the way things are timing out for the change in the light power but I swear the Maui looks different already. Pistils on the sour diesel have finally started to turn brown. Super silver haze number one really got its ass whooped by nutrient burn and I had to crumble off a whole shit load of fan leaves. It’ll make it to the end but she sure looks ugly.
Clones are really coming along. LST is already showing positive returns on the silver haze and Maui. Sour D is finally perking up
These three will be set for a transplant to 5Gal bags in a couple of weeks and then it’s gonna be a quick run into the flowering tent for them to hopefully wrap up by mid-may
This attempt at manifolding is a little different - I’m doing this with no topping. I’ve started by bending over the main stem and encouraged one of the lowest side shoots to grow in the opposite direction making the opposite side arm of the manifold. I’ve got two others going similarly as a trial run. I’ve been fimming and topping for 10 years or more now and Like everyone else I hate the delay in growth after topping. If I’m happy with these results (and early indications are Positive) I might be done with topping as a de-facto move.
Here’s a Sour D clone whose head dried up and fell off right after it came out of the cloner but when it took off in soil it just grew up pre-split. This will be easy to manifold.
The Maui is probably a week max from the chop. The sour D is coming along quickly and will be done not long after. Super Silver Haze - well I’ve nearly killed one of them by not flushing hard enough after an over feeding. It’s not looking hot and I’m probably gonna freeze it fresh after harvest, bubble it and press it all into live rosin.
The silver haze that I was talking about is starting to dry up from the bottom up and lower buds are affected. 15% amber trichs - fudge it, she’s coming down. Chopped and frozen fresh. Gonna get some bubble bags and hash it with the plan to press into live rosin.
The Maui is like 30% amber. I’m gonna chop it in the next day or two or three or this weekend whenever I have time basically it’s ready.
Sour D needs another 10 days and I’ll let the remaining silver haze go til the SD is done.
I have decided to try my hand at dry ice hash. My wife talked me into it. Ordered some bubble bags last night as well as some 37 µm filter bags for the Rozen press. The silver haze I chopped the other night is nice and frozen and my delivery of dry ice should arrive on Friday. That stuff goes quick so I’ll be getting right after it as soon as it shows up. Plan plan is to dry ice hash the fresh frozen buds and then press it into live Rozen.
I’m thinking I need to chop the Maui tonight given that it needs to come down and I’ve got some big plans for Friday night now.
Well some days the plan comes to fruition and some days the plan changes completely.
I went into the weekend thinking that Maui was coming down and wound up chopping sour diesel last night while the Maui still stands.
I’m sure the Maui will be done in the next few days or by the weekend at the latest. The super silver haze is very close as well. It sure would be convenient if they both got chopped at the same time.
I know it’s not the internets favorite way but it works great for me, I’ve got my beer fridge cleaned out and everything is chilling and drying in there. Three or four days of hanging on strings and then into paper bags for another week.
I never got my ass in gear to order the dry ice maybe I’ll get around to it today and make some hash later this week
Clones are taking a well deserved break from LST. I raised the lights by like 4-5” on em on Friday night to let them stretch out a bit. They’re too compact right now and They’re migrating to the flowering room next weekend where they’ll get repotted and vegged for another week before the flip. May harvest is the target and then shut down the flower tent for the summer
Just got done trimming and hanging everything and smoking the scissor hash.
The Maui delivered on yield. Lots more than I expected and at least twice what the Sour D pulled off. The last silver haze we decided to keep just the most primo buds and freeze the rest for hashing tomorrow.
Dry ice gets delivered around midday and we’ll start the hash.
I shouldn’t be as excited this morning as I am but last night I finally got around to making an effort to understand how to program the controller for my AC Infiniti fan properly.
Turns out I was trying to set a high temp limit, a low temp limit, a high humidity, and a low humidity limit all of which triggers the fan. In effect I was setting the thing up so that no matter what condition existed The fan would be running. Not my intention.
I disabled the low temperature setting and the low humidity setting and now the fan stays off unless The temperature goes above 80 or if the humidity goes above 75%. Much better.
Getting the humidity up is another matter. It’s like perpetually 30% humidity down there.
Been working more on the temperature control and dropped the temp to 76 in the room. I’m not sure if things grow better or not down from 80 but the fan definitely runs more.
I thinned a bunch and tied things down a little and in the process finally made sense of the insanely bushy silver haze - it almost looks like a normal plant!
Vegging for one more week and then it’s flip time.
I took a bunch of nice lower branches that would have never had a chance off the sour D and jammed them in the aero cloner. Those should be ready to transplant by tax day.
It’s insane how quickly these plants have come back since the defoliation. Just fed that Roots Organics Trinity again. I’m going with their recommended once weekly. I’ve been happy with the results and using it on the garden veggie starts too.
There’s a few posts back where I mentioned some other roots organic product but I was just stoned and confused mad used the wrong name. It’s been Roots Organics Trinity the whole time.
The Maui wowie looks…off. It has since it was transplanted. The leaves are narrow and the stems are kinda thin. The mother was a nice strong plant. It’s almost like this is just a weak clone that’s gonna finish as a weak plant.
Eh I’m not too concerned. The Maui wowie was the let down of the harvest. It’s nothing special. That Sour Diesel tho…dammmmmmmmn
Well as always what a difference a day makes. Everyone looking perky and happy in there. Just a few more days before I zip up the tent and switch the lights.
I was able to get the Maui looking a little healthier with a dose of Open Sesame. I do really like the results I’ve had with the Open Sesame/Beastie Bloomz/ChaChing combo but I always am on the fence about putting salts into my OG soil. Gets results tho…
So I did give the Maui some open sesame and two mornings later it looks much happier for it.
