New Ohio grower…

Howdy all. I’ve been a vegetable gardener for years. I’ve had big gardens, raised bed gardens, patio gardens and raised pretty much anything one can eat. One exception is Marijuana. I’ll start with my plan to grow my twelve (12) plant limit with the new OH laws. I’m a big fan of container growing and I intend to use outdoor 10 gal. bags for planting. I’m hoping to simply soak the seeds the same as I do with any seed and planting them into the bag for the duration.
I’m planning a soil mix of 2/1/1 fox farm, coconut coir and my own top soil.
I’m curious if this approach will give acceptable growth. My area is full sun at sunrise thru late afternoon approx 4:30-5-30 with late shadowing from some nearby trees. Temps are currently avg 60’s overnight with 75 highs at present. Humidity is fairly consistent in my area of 75-85% through the summer and early-mid fall. I’m intending to cage the bags with 5’ hi fence wire and wrapping the cages in greenhouse film to protect from high winds and potential down pours in June - early July.

With all of my plans can you tell me if I’m gonna have to exercise a better plan?

Ill tag along on this thread. I have grown a bit indoors, but I am on my first outdoor grow in Northeast Ohio. I’ve got 5 plants out on the deck in fabric pots. Good luck!

Welcome aboard! This is a new venture for me. I’m just hoping this isn’t going to be all that different or difficult than growing any other type of vegetation.
Re: your five (5) plants. Did you plant them directly in your bags or did you germinate prior? I’ve never had to do that with other seeds. I soak em overnight and place them in the pot. Generally get consistent good results. No transplanting required. Just keep an eye on progress.

I started mine indoors and then moved them outside…first into a greenhouse tent and now just out on the deck. I transplanted a couple times as they got bigger…I did not put them in grow bags until I put them outside. I see people direct sow in big bags…but have to be careful with watering…your prior experience will serve you well.

I think being a veg.Gardner for years you have a one up…Ive been a veg. Fruit. etc Gardner since childhood…weed is a little different but the same principals exist…I think they are very close to tomatoes… Keep us posted!!
