New member with 1st ever grow progress, and a quick question

Greetings,
New member just joined today after having read a few different threads over the last month or so…This is my first ever grow and I’ll quickly run down some of what I have going on here. I’m using a 24"x30"x57" Gorilla tent with an Apollo 240W LED light. Growing in Roots Organic soil and I sprouted 7 bag seeds which started out in red solo cups after germination, and have just moved 4 of them to larger containers (Tidy Cat litter buckets which are very close to 5 gallon cap. each) seedlings were 3 weeks old Thursday and I just transplanted them to the bigger buckets yesterday, and topped them today (Sunday).

My question is this, are the roots light sensitive and should I wrap the containers to block out any light leaking through during the light on cycle since the plastic buckets are translucent?

I’m hoping to at least get one female from these 4 bag seed plants, and will keep 2 if I get lucky enough…My plan is to try and scrog those that I do keep. I have some feminized seeds ordered but wanted to get going and get my feet wet with some “free” seeds first…Any input on how they look would be great as this is my 1st grow, and while they look okay to me so far, I could just be an overconfident newbie that’s missing something obvious…lol

No, the light will not hurt or affect the roots at all. You could cover the sides of buckets if you wanted to but no need to at all, even if they were 100% clear.

I agree with @Prejs420 it wouldn’t hurt to wrap them or spray them black but they are probably just fine as is! I had a few litter containers laying around that I had thought of using as pots see someone else had the same idea! Haha. Otherwise looking very good!

Also, welcome to the forums brother! Your plants look good and best of luck to you! Hope I was able to help.

Thanks for the quick replies, and thanks for the encouraging words! I didn’t think light would effect the roots much, but I just wanted to hear from some others just to be sure. I’ll post some updates here every couple weeks.

Welcome! My bag seed is 47 days old. Hoping to know the sex soon. I also have 3 Sour Diesel seedlings going. :grinning:
