Hi guys. New member here. I have several outdoor grows under my belt many seasons ago. I'm now trying to build a do it all tent setup on a budget. The plan is a 4x8 Gorilla tent at 8' height, two HLG 600w quantum board lights, a 400 cfm fan and carbon filter, and so far a 14,000 btu air conditioner. I will be growing eight larger plants scrog in 15 gallon smart pots using a 50\50 mix of fox farms happy frog and ocean forest soil, Growth Science nutrients and reverse osmosis water. The strains for the first run will be (hopefully) Cherry Pie and Skywalker OG both from ILGM. I ordered the seeds two weeks ago and was just informed TODAY that thy sold out of Cherry Pie. So here's to hoping I get my order.
I have a few concerns. My tent will be in a 12x12 "lung room". The ac will be used in the lung room to keep incoming air cool along with a dehumidifier. I have NO IDEA how to size the dehumidifier. The exhaust fan will vent outdoors. Is a 400 cfm fan going to cut it? I would also like to utilize co2 during flower. How do i keep the fan used to control temp and humidity from exhausting all of my precious carbon dioxide? I would also like to automate the lights, temperature, humidity and co2. Any suggestions on environmental controllers will be greatly appreciated. Titan controls seems like a solid option. Thanks in advance friends.

Welcome to ILGM forum. Reading through startup plan it looks fairly complete. The only problem is the one that you identified yourself. I’m not familiar enough with co2 usage to give any advice. I know I’ve seen a couple of people that use co2 in their indoor grow but don’t remember who it was. If I remember correctly you have to have a closed system environment for co2 usage to be beneficial. You’ve already said that you are going to vent outside so to use co2 you’ll need to research how to do it effectively. Sorry I couldn’t help. Good luck
No worries friend. Thank you for looking. Any idea on the dehumidifier size?
I have opposite issue, I constantly have low humidity. So I got a whole house humidifier for 4x8 tent.
I’m only speculating, but my humidity is close to 60% ambient, so I believe much dehumidification will be in order.
@Newgrwr2018 put this on my post about my new qb light. They might be able to help you out and welcome to the forum
Thank you so much!
I’ve tagged you in another post as well. Hope it helps
I’m still learning how to use the forums. lol So far, I have found so much useful information about aspects of growing I’ve never even considered.
There’s a lot of help here. A lot of knowledge and the team are great, so helpful. If you need anyone’s attention put @in front of their user name like @Cannacure or @Davyg that will get whoever’s attention. It pops a marker up in the top right of the screen
Nice. How do I find the threads you tagged me in?
Top right, next to your avatar. Click your picture and a drop down menu appears. Posts you’re mentioned in will be in blue, just click on one
Actually 60% rh is probably going to be a good target during veg. I will post a VPD chart. Your humidity and temperature works together to allow sugars to be produced and moved through plants. These temperatures and humidity levels are considered ideal for optimal growth. Sometimes difficult to achieve. If you look at chart find what temperature you are at then it will show you idea humidity for growth. These conditions aren’t absolutely necessary but are helpful for growth.
Unles u have a co2 deficiency i woulndt bother with it my self. If feel u need more try pulling it from out doors if possible. And mix it in with air flow, It would be more than enough.
81f/55rh is my goal. I keep vpd low to cause more evaporotranspiration. 60%rh is ok
If your temps high. With qb or other leds you want it low 80s cause there’s is no IR causing the leaf temp to be higher than air temp(hid lights 76degree room would be 81degree leaves). Higher the humidity the less transpiration. Use the vpd chart as a guide the right side is the better side. Lol
dimluxlighting website has a perfect vpd chart and calculator
Thanks so much for all of the great advice guys! I’ve since changed the entire setup
for more of a perpetual garden. The current setup is a Gorilla 4x4 for mothers and clones with an HLG 320xl Bspec, 2 oscillating monkey fans, 2 stationary monkey fans, a cool mist humidifier and an AC Infinity cloudline T6 extraction fan with insulated ducting. I have another tent for veg that is identical to the one previously mentioned. The flower tent is a 5x5 Gorilla brand with and HLG 650 Rspec diablo boards, a cloudline T8 extractor fan with insulated ducting and 8" Phresh carbon filter, oscillating fans at all four corners and a large dehumidifier.I have also setup another 4x4 tent with oscillating and stationary fans, a cloudline T6 with insulated ducting, a humidifier and a dehumidifier for the purpose of drying flower. I have a 2 ton AC, an ozone generator and a propane powered co2 generator that supply the entire “lung” room. All extraction fans are ducted outdoors and, I am using pulse monitors in all of the tents. I have been using the customizable VPD charts from pulse. So far, so good! I started 10 feminized seeds from ILGM using the cup of water method and only one didn’t germ. 5 Cherry Pie and 4 Skywalker OG made it. I have since planted the sprouts into 16oz party cups with Fox Farms Happy Frog. They are 6 days old today. Aside from some strange leaf curling mutation in the Cherry Pie, they all appear to be very healthy and vigorous! New growth doesn’t display the leaf twist/curl so all is well! The plan is to transplant into 1 gal nursery pots with 50/50 Fox Farms Happy Frog and Ocean Forest with 20% vermiculite added, then transplanting into the same mix using 10 smart pots. I will be using the entire Growth Science conventional nutrient line and RO water. Am I missing anything?
