@GreenJewels Happy frog is a great starter soil. I am sure you could re amend it. From what I understand is you use HF for the beginning then to switch to ocean floor amended for flower. Here is a good video to watch. And the guy is super helpful if you email his company Boogie Brew.
And yes bigger is better for organics but I have limited room only 3x3x5 I don’t have room for 10gal pots most I can do is 5gal. These will be there final resting pots. I am sharing exactly what I am doing this is my first time doing organics. You guys know I am new to growing only been at it for a couple years. This is the one I am really keeping a eye on it’s the pot with all the amendments.
Thank you @GreenJewels that was very nice of you to say. It meant a lot
That is a great thing about organic growing you can re use the soil
My friend Matt from photosyntech (plug his channel) helped me alot he has a YouTube and Instagram if u follow him he responds to any questions I may have. He is trying to get me to do sprout teas and while the information is great I want to get 1 simple grow under my belt first lol.
I don’t know if I mentioned this but Jack’s 321 does not very in terms of strength. You use it full strength from start to finish. Yes I used it full strength on the ladies that are seedlings.
This should’ve went up top also. The mixing of Jack’s. 1gal water then add 3.6 grams of part A and 1.2 grams of epsom salt. Stir these together then add 2.4 grams of part B calcium nitrate. This will prevent the Epsom salt and calcium nitrate from bonding creating gipsom (spelling)
Well organic growing has it’s own challenges.
Remember you feed the soil and your soil feeds the plants. So with organics nutrients they need to be broken down in the soil this is where compost teas come into play.
5 gals of water. If you use tap water let it bubble for 24hours first. If you don’t your tap water will kill the microbes you are trying to grow
My tea consists of 1 cup worm castings 1cup compost 1 teaspoon kelp alfalfa and insect frass and 30ml of sugar for microbes to feed on in the tea. My tea also has 10ml of orca/great white this is just to get the tea some microbes right away.
Let bubble for 24 hours you will see it foam at the top that’s how you know it’s working.
I will water my plants with this a good heavy watering. By adding all this new microbiology to the coco that will break down and eat the nurients in the coco for the plant to be able to use.
Reminder that my method does not let the soil cook like most gardeners tend to do
This is week 3 just rocking along
The starter plugs are for my veggie garden the cucumbers have already sprouted
I really like the switch to organics it’s very easy to garden this way. The initial start up is where the money is needed. I probably spent 150 for all my boxes of nutrients. But now I just sit back and water and they are growing just as fast as the Jack’s.
Happy Easter
Today is feed day so for the Jack’s I mix
3.6 g of part a. 2.4 g of part b and 1.2g of epsom salts to 1gal water
1cup worm castings
1 cup compost in a bag with 15 ml of flora nectar (sugar’s) in 2gal of water bubble for 24 hours to develope the microbes to feed the organics
Well I took out all my veggies and I am just moving them back and forth from the house outside until I know we don’t have frost warnings so I can put them into the ground.
This is a mid week updated photo. I put up the net and re amended my coco. I have added the flowering nutrients fish bone meal and langbenite.
The fish bone smells like dead fish lol.
I am having a calcium def on one of my plants so I added oyster shells but it’s so wet I have to wait to water it in. But all my other plants are doing great.
Recycle baby!
I do the same as well and in my yard with leaves from trees and when I trim bushes etc all the cuttings go back under them as mulch as the cuttings have all the nutrients used to grow things and it composted and put back in the soil!
I don’t put any I mean any plant material into the trash for pick up it all stays on my property as it’s mine.
