It’s super close. You’re a week out or so. Can you get a magnifying glass? Checking trichs look at the calyx. That’s the bottom of the bud where stem and the bud formed from. You want cloudy to 20-30% amber for peak potency. If you like energy/head high I would say cloudy with a few clear still.

I’d say you needed some nutrients for the flowering phase but it’s definitely bud. you’ll have some leaves to trim but for a first go with zero nutrients you did well. Trust me I’ve seen way worse with more effort.

took a small bud off for testing. This is what it looks like up close. I’ll try and get a magnifying glass. And yes i trimmed the fan leafs

Looks a little larfy or spongy but Im willing to bet she smokes good! Lack of nutrients possibly the cause but overall with what you had to work with I’d say you done a great job! You made it from start to finish that’s more than some can say on their first run. Congratulations @marandaleeanne26

Should i let her go longer? Looking for more of a couch lock high so i was told to let it go until the 2nd week of Oct.

Really need a magnifier to know for sure but I think you’d be fine going a little longer

I’d say another week and a half but that’s me. You went all this time why pull early. You want quality after all the work. A taster is a good gauge of where you’re at. If it wasn’t that great wait. She’s still working.

Okay so my sample bud i had pulled I let dry over night then today set it off to the side by a fan today to finish drying and tonight it was dry enough for me to smoke. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been a minute since I’ve really smoked cause i’m out or this weed is actually good :joy: because i’m currently high, all my pain is pretty much gone and i feel better now then i have in days. I did a bud test on my other plant the other day and it didn’t do anything for me. Def will be letting her go for a another week or so. You’ve all been a great help on my first grow and its much appreciated.

I’m a first time grower in Michigan as well, and a few people here are talking about taking a taster, is it ok to clip buds off if the main colas aren’t ready? Will it hurt the remaining plant?

Typically samples are taken from the lower flowers that won’t develop into much from the bottom. Won’t hurt a thing. Welcome! @jb216

@marandaleeanne26 I’m glad you have some pain relief. Not all strains work, has a lot to do with terpene content and body chemistry.

Yes if you wanna do a sample of your bud take from the bottom of the plant. And I hope your first grow is going well.
