New grower…help!

Tomorrow will be day 70 of my white widow autos. I have been flushing for the past week. My questions are when do I stop watering, should I do 36 hours of darkness before I harvest and how close would y’all say I am?

Welcome to the forum.

How many days has she been flowering? The estimation for time to harvest from the seed sellers is based on time in flowering rather than time from seed.

In general:

Wait until most pistils have browned and receded then begin looking at trichomes. Harvest when the trichomes are to your taste.

When you harvest the plant.

Dark periods are ill-advised bro science. If you take away a plant’s light, then you take away its energy source to grow and maintain trichomes.

Thank you for responding so quickly! She started flowering 40 days ago.

A typical flowering cycle is 60 to 70 days. You have a while to go yet.

Hello. She has a bit of time left. Let your lady plump up.

Welcome to the forum!

Nice-looking plant! She still has a lot of white pistils, still more time to go. When the vast majority of her pistils turn orange/brown, then start looking at her trichomes.

It looks from the pics that your trichome shots are from the sugar leaves; if so, look at the trichomes on the buds themselves, since the trichomes on the sugar leaves mature faster than the trichomes on the buds.

No need for any period of darkness, and more knowledge is coming out that it isn’t needed.

Same goes for flushing, for the most part. And since you have some time to go before harvesting, you might want to consider giving her a bit of flowering nutes, if you have some on hand.

Welcome to the forum! Plant looks nice and healthy! Like others stated above still have weeks left, should notice them thickening up in the next couple weeks too!

@Bobv1228 welcome to the forum. Your close up trichome pics see the be focused on the sugar leaves. When determining the right time to harvest make sure that you are looking at the buds. As the sugars leaves trichromes with turn amber before your buds do. Or you will risk a premature harvest.

Solid 3-4 weeks left IMO and I would feed full strength after all the flushing :love_you_gesture:

Today is 58 days from flower. Trichomes are definitely milky. I think I want to wait till I see the first signs of amber. Just got this wifi microscope on Amazon… great investment under 25 bucks! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Nice looking plant Growmie, the pics are of the sugar leaves and these trichomes will turn sooner than the bud trichomes :love_you_gesture:
