Many find the qbs fine I almost bought one myself but I found a hlg 360 elite on sale. It all really comes down to budget. But if you go cheap it will make you pay for it out of the yield. You will have to upgrade later so your cost savings will cost you in the end. As far as a blurple I would not go that way unless your budget was crippling and you had no choice. I got blurple and hid lights in storage I learned the hard way so don’t do what I did.
@SKORPION thanks for tagging me in.
@BorkFate we’re here help. Lighting is the most important part of your grow. We know how tempting it can be when reading all those amazing reviews. This is not the light you think it is. Back away from the blurple.
We’ll point you in the direction you need go.
What’s your grow space? Tent? Closet?
What do you have available for environmental control and ventilation?
Are you in the US?
Blurple is better than nothing if you can’t go outside some harvest is better than no harvest so say what you want about blurple light your gonna get more with it than you would from a regular house bulb
I’m with you buddy. I’d rather not get scolded anymore but I stand by what I said to OP that light I linked WILL grow him two decent plants. I’ve had cheap blurples and I’ll say they are not all made equal.
If I was you I would bite the bullet and go with HLG. They are pricy but your plants will thank you for it.
For the cheap you can make 1 hlg 260 for 290 or less. Just get the 260 heatsink/ board combo ($185) and on amazon you can get driver (+/- $75) then about $20 misc wiring stuff/ hangers. 1 260 is good for 2x4.
Found a very intriguing light on eBay last night. Equivalent to hkg 550 V2 spec r but with the b instead of h Samsung diodes and sacrificing 50ish ppfd for 450. Would pull the trigger but my wife isn’t fully on board with my new hobby I gotta tread light for now lol
Can i daisy chain a 1000w LED and 600W LED?
what he said - i started in January for the 1st light - now i am up to 3 sets of the HLG 260 now and they grow great flowers !!!
LED Grow Lights has the HLG 550 on sale for $700 right now - HLG comes with a 3 year waranty as well - just to compare apple to apple…
Went ahead and ordered me one. Self control never was my strong suit. Here’s hoping it’s worth it…that’s a lot of damn money for a light lol.
Yeah eagle but a good harvest is a pound or two, and what’s that worth? And completely understand the wife not on board issue been there
Haha, lot changes in a couple days! My growth under sub optimal lighting persuaded her. My new light gets here tomorrow…and yeah brother you’re preaching to the choir. She’s stubborn, but not stupid. So I’m making progress with her lol.
She was influenced by my previous results with 40 watts of blurple. She is seeing that this time gonna be diff.
Sorry I haven’t replied. I had been softlocked out
Time based, so no biggie. after I planted the sprout deeper but immediately realised I cut the taproot. I watched and learned
But lt died. I have since decided that any seeds I obtain will be stored in a cool dry container for later use.
Alot of good info. It made me get back into plants and lots of reading. I will be using a lot of the ideas here in the future.
@NeoGroR yes from the pacific northwest.
Good luck man keep reading.
I learned alot about the topic lighting and remembered alot. My first attempt the cordycepts. ( Misspell maybe?) Were eaten by squirrels #2 #3 were right here.
The new, full spectrum, quantum boards are good lights and will generate significantly less heat/draw significantly less power than a CMH with similar output.
Check out Horticulture Lighting Group, Mars Hydro, and Spider Farmer. All make good lights. Those are basically sorted in order of most expensive to most affordable.
