New grower and damn glad to be here!

Hi everyone ! We’ve got a first timer over here ! So glad I made the decision to grab a grow tent. Bought a small 3x3x3.4 grow set up. Came with everything you would need. I was like a kid on Christmas Day ripping the boxes open and then my anxiety kicked in and I realized I had no clues what I was doing. Through the help of some good friends and by luck finding this forum, I’m actually on my way (knock on wood)! Homegrown Cannabis Company is where I scooped my G13 and WW feminized Auto Flower. I’m using a ipow grow tent kit. Full spectrum light and I have a small fan on low giving lots of fresh air. I’m currently on day 14 ! My ladies seem to be doing great. I’m using a 18-6 light cycle. I had a small snafu with my timer which resulted in being on for close to 24 hours. I also think that I was trying to be mindful of over watering ended up not giving enough. I was watering only at the base but have come out a little wider now. Anywho would love some thoughts and opinions on my first set up. Plans in place for a much larger set up on the way. Will keep y’all posted !

Thanks for reading
Rich

Welcome @Igrowthings to ILGM forum. I hear you on getting going on the grow. I kinda went overboard when I started full on. I just left some things out. School of hard knocks was a humbling experience. You want some killer weed but there are some obstacles along the way that can impede your progress.

Start here so we can get to know you and your grow better.

Answer these simple questions the best you can. If you are not sure, just bring it to our attention. We will figure it out.

  1. Indoor or outdoor? - size of grow?
  2. Otigin of seeds?
  3. Regular, feminized, or autoflower?
  4. Origin of water. PH, EC/TDS of source water?
  5. PH and TDS/EC of if mixed solution?
  6. Grow method? Soil, Soil-less, Coco, Hydro, Aquaponics. Please explain.
  7. Nutrients or fertilizer system used.
  8. What typr of lighting are you using? LED, HID (MH, CMH, HPS), or Fluorescents? Please elaborate.
  9. What are the temps in your growspce? Day / Night?
  10. What is the RH = relative humidity in your growspace? Day / Night?
  11. AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier?
  12. Do you have a Ventilation system? Size? 4", 6"?
  13. Co2 Yes / No?
  14. How long have you been growing?
  15. What budget have you set in order to grow successfully?
  16. If you grow hydro, then please explain your hydro method. DWC, R-DWC, Ebb and Flow, Or; Other? Other?

16b. Size and temperature of solution in reservoir?

Always try to upload a clear picture in white light of any issues you may have to allow the community to identify your issue.

Anything you feel would help us give you more informed advice should be included. Feel free to elaborate at the end of the survey.

A couple of things I see from your pictures is your fan on top of your tent and exposed soil.
I would cover your soil with some non-organic substrate like washed sand. That is a way to keep bugs out of your buds. Most bugs need water and organic material for their lifecycle.
Heat will rise out of your tent.
Open up your top vents and position your fan in front of one of the bottom vents that is open.
You need to pull air from the bottom of your tent. That is where the cool air and CO2 will be located. Hot air rises and CO2 is the heaviest component of air.

Thank you! I’ll look to love my fan. Currently it’s a space issue. I’ll have to look for a new fan. Maybe a clip one for inside. ?

This or till the top two inches of soil regularly with fingers or a fork. Some people even use perlite but that seems like a waste to me.

You should invest in an inline ventilation fan as well as a carbon filter if smells are an issue, weed gets loud when its flowering especially if you have a lb of flowers growing in there!

If you can i would look into the ventilation stuff as well. I bought two cheap inline fans from Amazon and cinched them into the side holes of the tent. Lower fan is intake and upper fan is exhaust

You install an exhaust fan on top sucking out air I’d imagine you’ll need a 4” fan.
