This is my first attempt at growing so i done a lot of reading on this site and bought my seeds from ilgm which is white widow auto I tried to germinate 5 and got roots on 3 so i got 3 in the dirt which i am using jiffy all natural seed start. Thought I grow seedlings in a closet using a ferry morse T5 grow light after the first week plants are growing slow going on week 3 and on plant appears to be dying. I had to add a warm mist humidifier to get humidity adove 50 and temperature is staying between 68 and 72 using distilled water from foodlion PH 6.0 only feeding plants. Can somebody please help an ex- navy veteran newbie.
Need to get temperature up to about 75 or 80 if possible and how close is your lights
First thing your plants look over watered. At that size they take in very little. Drop your light as close as heat will allow, that light is not enough. Your low temps will cause slow growth so up that.
I would agree with @Reed71 about temp, also make sure you don’t over water. Only need an 1/8 cup at most.
The light is about 7 inches away and my grow tent will be here tomorrow 36x36x64 with 2 bloomspect 1000 led. Was wondering should i move plants to tent and put in there 5 gallon pots
I would definitely wait for those pots to dry out some before a repot
Are those biodegradable pots? If so you can put in your larger pot, but I would cut some holes in the bottoms, make it easier for the roots. What soil will you be using? If coco, over watering isn’t as much of a deal, but soil you have to let almost dry before next water/ feed.
Do you thank the one plant will survive and when first starting young plants in grow tent how far should you hang your lights i have 2 bloomspect 1000 got from Amazon
I am going to be switching them to rocket fuel potting soil and yes they are biodegradable pots
Hard to say with seedlings they are like babies so fragile. I’m not familiar with your light but it should have info included on distance. Don’t blast them right away work your way up and give them time to adjust.

Ur soil looks to be quite wet i wouldnt water them for a two days but they are healthy looking plants congrats if you have seaweed liquid u can mix a two -three mls of seaweed liquid in ur water this will help ur plants get a bigger and better root system before there ready for transplanting .i should mention that you want to get ur self a two ltr bottle fill with water and add two to three mls of seaweed liquid to it use this bottle of water over a few days once its gone redo it again thats what i do with my seedlings i havent had a problem just dont use to much seaweed liquid and dont over water ur plants keep ur humidity around 60-80% and keep ur temp around 75-80
I am using a warm mist humidifier and can’t get humidity adove 50 right now i added a small infrared heater to closet hope to get heat up in the 80s and maybe will bring humidity up. Shouldn’t be a problem once my tent gets here tomorrow
You encountered problems because you left the seedlings in seedling starter too long. Seedling starter is primarily a peat based product and has very little in the way of nutritional value. Once the plant consumes the first set of leaves it needs feeding from then forward or the growth will stall out and the plants will die.
Seed starter has one big advantage over soil so I don’t want to discourage you from using it. But you need to recognize it’s limitations as well.
The big advantage of seed starter is the peat is a hydrophobic medium, meaning that it actually resists soaking up and holding moisture, making it hard to overwater your seeding.
I’m only home a couple days a week so I had to develop a strategy to keep the seedlings wet enough for five days at a time, yet not too wet that I kill off the roots. What I started doing is filling a small pot (or cup if you like) half way with potting soil and using seed starter on the top half. I give the pot enough water to soak the soil and keep a dome on to keep it from drying out. The peat keeps the roots dry enough that they take off, and the soil keeps the peat wet enough that the seedling gets the moisture it needs to survive. When the seedling needs more moisture and nutrients it will find them in the soil. The seedling gets everything it needs except for occasional watering until it’s time to transplant.
So should i transplant as soon as plants soil dry up a little. I got some rocket fuel soil i seen jim blushi using on his pot fram.
I would let them dry out and don’t overwater, I would wait the roots aren’t established to hold together I would put a dome on them and spray dome and spray around outside of pot but let them dry out first
