Neem Oil Questions

I’m currently using neem oil as both a soil drench and foliar spray. It seems as though right after I spray her the next morning there are always a couple spider mites and aphids. Just wondering if you all think I need to increase my spray frequency (maybe I’m catching it just as it gets weak allowing for a few to get in before it kicks in again) or increase the potency of my spray for the same reason? Has anyone noticed and attraction to neem oil by spider mites or aphids? This is only my 4th grow, so I shall wait for wisdom from the elders. :sunglasses:

Okay, so I told you guys I’m slow on social platform navigation, but I managed to do a search on neem oil (golf clap for the wastard… Lol) and turned up a lot of great information you’ve already posted. For starters, I will no longer be spraying as I have began pre-flowering. It looks like peroxide and Deadbug are the prefered methods in my research thus far. Feel free to still let me know any tips you think I may miss in the archives. :joy::sunglasses:

Looks like our work here is done lol. Started typing and saw your own reply. Navigating can be tricky, but there’s more than plenty of the negatives of neem here lol. Good luck and happy growing!

Thanks @Borderryan22! Yeah, I’m glad I caught the bit about using neem during flowering. Fortunately, she only had one spray during early pre-flowering so hopefully it won’t affect the taste. I’m having to kinda wing it this season, but all things considered, I ain’t complaining. At 13 weeks from seed, Li’l Bertha is 56" tall and 50" wide after being topped twice and only in a 6 gallon bag. She’s been pre-flowering for about a week and a half now, so she’s about to get at it. :sunglasses:

Nice looking plant.

Thanks, I wish I knew what strain she is. Unfortunately, she was from a very old stock of unlabeled seeds and was the only one that germinated. Fortunately, any seeds in that stock we’re from some old school kill. :sunglasses:

I wouldnt use peroxide unless its a last dirch effort. Youll kill all the beneficial stuff in your soil. If you do go that route, i would use something like dynomyko to recharge your soil.

Good stuff here. Kills it all. Mold/mites/gnats
.etc. 10 bux for a sample that makes a gallon. I love it. Been using it a couple years.

Will you be taking any clones? There are a lot of opportunities to do so, that is a seriously healthy looking plant from ancient seed!

Thanks! Yeah, my understanding was that the peroxide is generally just for bud rot, which thankfully I don’t have yet.

I wish like hell I was! Unfortunately I am operating under some seriously bullshit conditions caused by a legal battle with my brother and have nowhere to properly tend the clones thru winter. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
If there is anyone near me that can, I’d give them some just to keep me one alive. :joy:Frankly, it’s a miracle I’ve pulled this off. I like to think of it as the world of weed thanking me for all my years of hard service. :sunglasses:

Thanks for the tip @Storm! Looks like I stopped the Neem just in the nick of time before ruining the taste. I will definitely check this out, when I can get my hands on it. :joy:

Agreed .Thats one nice lookin plant !!.. I mused when I read “I wish I knew what strain she is”
Its the kind you smoke…  Hey If its old school stock Its gotta be good!..A friend and I years back had a pretty good collection from the best of our “bags” that we rarely had any seeds if any…and he got raided and the cops took all the seeds…
Keep posting I wanna see what that beauty turns into…

Thanks! Yeah, I was confident when she sprouted I was in good shape, if I could get her to the end (we’ll see). Back then I only keep seeds from stuff I loved, now I feel like a lottery winner when I find one. I was actually buying some really good outdoor for a while just because of the free seeds when a buddy and I where growing. You killed me with me I know what strain she is, the kind you smoke!:rofl:

First off Neem Oil has never worked for me. I did a lot of research and peroxide can damage your plants if done wrong. You can use this product at any point in the grow, only difference is once the bugs are there you have to mix it in the water during the feed cycle to get the plant to take it up. and you would still have to mix it with the soil too. But if it’s in the soil from the start the plants takes it up and repels pests throughout the grow.

Sorry, the product is called Neem Cake!

Thanks for info gromie!! Yeah, I have come to not like Neem Oil. It seemed to attract spider mites and aphids as a foliar spray. I didn’t really have any issues with it as a root drench in veg, but once I realized it was useless in flower, it’s been scrapped. The peroxide I’m very sparingly using a 50/50 water mix on suspected spots of powdery mildew, only because I have no other options this year. Next year I plan to use PureCrop1. Does it all, all the way through harvest. :sunglasses:

That’s the great thing about the Neem Cakes. You can still use it now. Top dress with it and also add 2 tablespoons the every feed. It will slowly kill whatever is attacking and also kill eggs before they hatch.
