Basis of my statement is 200 watt per plant is not right way to size your led. As above, that means im under powered. That is a 4x4, sized to sq ft but still adequate 560 watts for four plants. Thinking this size grow is pretty typical.
Any method of calculation that will be applicable in some situations will not be applicable in all situations. Whether you are right or whether I am right is not relevant and this isn’t a chest bumping contest. Your method is great for some situations and not so for others, as is my method. My intent is to be right in most situations, not all. To say that your method is the only valid method is simply bad advice. It is not applicable in all situations.
Ill put some up in a month…grin. i run 4 straight up auto in my 3x3. Not spread though. JUST fit.
My thoughts on power is max you will ever need and dim/raise. I jave 2 600w in a 3x3. 900 in 5x5. I just dont crankem unless full. I kinda feel more than needed is better than less. All kinds of ways. I have even done the 1 light a plant style. 150w on 1 girl. I also feel light footprint is a biggie. Full power coverage max footprint. Not full tent drop lights down making footprint smaller and dimming. You can put as many plants in a lights footprint as will comfortably fit. Just my thoughts.
Lol your funny. Bad advice again? Ok brother. Sizing to your growing footprint is how its done. Its not my method, it is a demand factor that u as a electrical engineer as you claim would think u would agree upon. Do you size your electrical service based upon how many people are in the house? Or are you using demand factors and sq ft. The bad advice is your own. I would be underpowered in your method, the STANDARD method will account for anything within the foot print! Period. You keep sizing the wrong way engineer. Im actually not surprised.
Dude, for the most part your method is valid; however, neither you nor I have any idea what the OPs grow space and plant count is. To suggest that 640 watts is required in what might be a 4x4 with one plant in it is just irresponsible.
A debate is fine. Personal insults are not.
Agreed. I was ok until you claimed it was bad advice. Simply trying yo keep op informed
Be nice Poseiden. Lights are always a debate. How we do it is proven in the pudding. If its incorrect initially for our grow we adjust. Best advice i have is get a GOOD light. Bigger than need. Adjust power with dimmer and light height. Pretty basic. Any good led will kill the mh all day long in my opinion.
Agreed storm. But its hard to swollow being told a demand factor to a footprint is bad advice.
If you have to try to win your debate via personal insults, then you are losing the argument.
Demand factor for what is the question you seem to not be asking. 9 sq ft? 16 sq ft? How many plants? My method accommodates those questions quite well.
Not a insult its a fact. Demand factor will cover any scenario. Period. If that was a insult you need thicker skin mr.
Yet another personal insult. It’s not that I care, it just shows what kind of a person you are. Storm called you out too, so it’s not just me.
You have a good day.
I will. Keep doing your homework. It will make sense a little later…
Nice! Good work bro
There are other ways to get your point across without being insulting. Keep it up and there will be repercussions.
Be respectful of others on this forum.
That is all.
Where was i disrespectful exactly?
Trying to have a positive debate without being told im giving bad advice?
Just want to say getting away from the MH is a great call. I used the hot gear to start. Grows great but electric/heat/bulb life bad. Any good led build will give a BASE of 50k hours before degradation. 5 plus years. Dont let the change stress you. Kinda look at 600w 4x4…3-400w 3x3. I run 900 5x5 but 3 lights. Can turn off 1 or 2 as needed. Dont make it hard or stressfull. All GOOD light makers give a good coverage AVERAGE for thier lights. Take that big number…lower it 15-20% and you will be closer to actual performance. Bar styles are the best coverage anymore i think.

So you agree im wrong to? Not being rude im asking
