Need to buy a Good dehumidifier

You are going to spend at least $200 on a decent dehumidifier… I would save that money to invest in something a bit different…
That dehumidifier is going to add a lot of heat to room… I have already gone through this and found my room temps climbing into the high 80’s and low 90’s
I would personally (and did) invest in a “split” ac unit… It will remove humidity from room, keep ambient temps down and stabilize the entire room regardless of light types (I run LED/T5 and DE bulbs (DE is retired for now)
I grow at 65º year round and room is stable at 50/55% humidity… Room is around 130sq ft with 3 4x4 tents… it is absolutely trouble free for temps and humidity… Worth noting that it does not cost any more than running the dehumidifier either…both are rated at around 1200W

I’ve seen those and considering them as although I have central air I had to install a window unit to cool down room enough.

Big drawback is cost… $1000 for the unit and what ever you spend installing it… I did all but the actual 220v work and had an electrician do that ($150)…

Well I guess I know what my tax return is going towards…

I picked up a refurb, Hisense 35pint, delivered to my door for 62 american. It came yesterday(a whole week early) and is working great!

@RandallJ, The one I bought does throw out some heat. I am thinking to keep it going through the winter here in Fl. and next spring get a split one. I was wondering how they worked, and now I know. Thanks for that 411. I see the portable ones at a very fair used price.

Well i went all out, bought a 70 pt one.

I have a 12,000BTU unit and it works just fine in a 12x16 room. For Florida, I would certainly not use less… There are a few makers but Ghee was what I ended up with… As far as the “dehumidifier” It could provide supplemental heat if needed  I can not speak for portable units … they may be just fine but it was not the solution I wanted… It is on the floor, needs plumbed and has to be worked around… The split simple stays out of the way…

@RandallJ @Tr33 @Laurap Ductless splits are great :+1: I install them all the time
The portable units you want the dual hose types
Most don’t need to be plumbed out but some well need you to empty them once in a while
Most actually have pumps built in you need to turn on manually when needed
12000 BYU’s is good for 4-500 square feet FYI
I can assist anyone that needs help

We have something in common. I’m in HVAC also

@Blizzy138 @Countryboyjvd1971 my grow tent is in a room that is 144ft square (12×12ft). I’m looking for a dehumidifier that can get RH down to 35% or lower. What brand and size would you recommend for me?

I have a frigidaire dehumidifier 70 pint. It works for me. Depending on your environment it may work. It will add heat tho, so if your space is hot already you may want to take that in consideration.
