Need help from some HLG QB guys!

Hi folks,

So I grow in a 2x4 tent in 5 gal fabric pots and I’ve been wanting to upgrade from chinese blurples to a quantum board with the power to bring me from seedling to flower. My main question is what exactly the difference between this light and this light .

Honestly they seem very similar to me, but is there some difference that makes one a better deal than that other?

Thanks for your time!

I believe that the only difference is that the XL just has a longer heatsink, so that there is distance between the two QB boards. It’s the same amount of power and light, just that they are spread apart on the XL. Experts on this site may know more.

I just bought the non-XL, it should be here tomorrow.

Did you order yours assembled or do you plan on putting them together yourself?

I plan on doing it myself. From what I have gathered from folks on this site, minimal tools are required, screwdriver and wire stripper. I’ll know more tomorrow

I have a 4x4 and use 2 Xl 260s. I like the spacing on the heatsink. It puts a board directly over each of my 4 plants. Assembly is a breeze. There’s a couple YouTube videos that show step by step instructions. Worth saving 35 bucks.

Right on man that sounds fun! I’d love to know how it works out for you.

I’ll have to check that out and do some youtube research. I’m looking forward to ordering some quantum boards soon. My electrical knowledge is limited but I can certainly follow some step by step instructions!

I was a little apprehensive at first too. I have limited experience with electrical also but it’s really just a few connections and you’re running. The kits from GrowersLights come complete. Screwdriver and wire strippers are all you need.

Also with the XL you can add a third board if needed.

Hey guys. Can I switch from HID to LED in the middle of flowering or do I need to wait to start a new harvest? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can as long as they equal or exceed the power of what you have.

You just made my night man thank you sir!

Especially if you get the QB’s you’ll be very happy. Be prepared to up your nutes. They put photosynthesis into overdrive.

how high do u have ur lights mounted?

I started at about 30" at 50% power. I let the plants grow up to about 24" before flower and gradually increased the power. Currently 2 weeks from flip and wattage is at 225 with the top shoots at about 18". I may need to raise them a little before it’s all over. They will get max wattage in a few days.

This is true. I’ve assembled 3 of the XL with no electrical experience. With the help of YouTube and @dbrn32 it was a breeze.

As the others pointed out, same boards and driver difference Is the heatsink. For a 2x4 the xl kit will give you more uniform par levels, and with the bigger heatsink the boards will run s little cooler.
