I figured I could get a small tent to do my drying or the closet to the room . and I’m still learning how to do clones. I’ve started 4 and only 2 are living but don’t look great
Youre out here providing some real service to people dude props to you, everywhere i look u spreading info here taking notes like
Thanks, I just have no life and love growing just about anything. @Cowboy357 what light do you have already and how big is the room your converting? You’ll want 200w-400w of good light per plant. You can also buy a good 2x2 to start small and build up. It will be more expensive in the long run, but you can spread the cost a little. A closet would work for drying as long as you can ventilate it and somewhat control the environment. I built a pop up closet around a window A/C to keep it cool.
Cloning can be fun and addictive.
I will be spot on and more specific when I get home as I am at work atm But I got 3 led full spectrum lights. Like the purple ones. They say there 600 watts. But I got all 3 lights plus a hps light for 100$ from a guy so I said ok. Cool. And they all work. But I believe the room is 10x10. Or 12x12. I will take measurements. As I still been cleaning it out moving things
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, but it’s pretty likely you don’t have enough light to raise a good plant. Usually the burple lights are notoriously overrated, but there are a few high end manufacturers. They make claims like 400w equivalent. Watts are Watts if it sounds too good to be true it’s probably not true… Some diodes are more efficient than others and therefore produce slightly more light per watt but only slightly more. When you can, get a pic of the nameplates on the lights. It will be the tag with a bunch of electrical info on it. We can get a better Idea from there. I will say $100 isn’t a bad price for 4 lights regardless of the quality.
My space is just about the same size. I think It’s 9’7"x 11’x7’. I run 6 plants in that space under 2 700w 4x4 lights. Sometimes I get a plant that just wants to be a monster so I put it in the corner under a 300w 2x2. This setup grows more kind than my friends and I can smoke. If you just want to be self sufficient you could start with a good 4x4 and see where that gets you. Generally you would want lights with Samsung LM301 Diodes. I hear HLG is fantastic. AC Infinity, Spider Farmer, and Mars Hydro all have some good options too. Try to do your research on the manufacturer website. Then you can look for a deal elsewhere. There are a lot of scams and misinformation on amazon and ebay.
I have done a few grows with the hps light. Had it set to 400w in a 3x3.
I switched to the spiderfarm se3000.
It made my buds much bigger and more dense for sure. It was less that $300
I can tell a big difference between the 2 as far as bud quality.
HPS lights are HOT HOT HOT too. I hated doing LED retrofits on them. You have to let them cool down or you will melt your glove to your hand. I found out the hard way.
Ya I tried the 600w and it got a lil hot in there. Burnt up a few tops.
Thanks buddy for all good info. Really helpful. But yea I had got the lights before I started growing. Was just hoping until I could get the right things I need. And yea I was looking into them And spider farmer. Waiting on money to pulll the trigger.
But yea I have 3 of them and. Hps. Which that damn thing gets hot ofc so I know not to try that😂. I use it as a backyard light sometimes. Unless I had a ballast but that’s a price point to. Stil a lot of heat I bet. I’d rather go with a spider farmer or HLG. But yes I hear alot of the Samsung diodes.
I’m slowly getting there. And thank you for all the info. First things im getting is my soil and nutrients so i can get ready for next runs and than get that light sometime soon if i can.
Happy HLG lights
AC-I customer controllers & fans.
Near as I can tell that would be a 130w light, but it’s hard to tell since it seems to be out of production. If you have 3 of those they might work OK for 1 or 2 plants to get you started. If you have any questions about coco or soil I’m happy to help where I can.
Go with spider farmer 3000 to start and then get a second one I started with all those supposedly 1000w purple lights
Then over kill to 720w spider farmer that heated the room to much I backed up to twin 300w sf 3000 beset thing I ever did
Happy growing
I’m definitely thinking about going with soil still. I’m running with mother natures groundswell. 12-6-9 I believe is the ratio already in the soil. Only soil I have tried so far. I thought about the organic pro mix. I was looking into happy frog. And ocean forest but wasn’t understanding much difference as in what’s in the soil. Yea OF and HF we’re higher is npk. So useful if I don’t want to feed or amend it as much. But wouldn’t that mean it would feed off the soil in a longer process?
Thank a lot buddy. You been through some lights to know. Which is good. I’m slowly getting things together. My room is almost cleared out. Putting my unit in a few days. Cleaning down walls. Floor. For now I’m putting these burple lights up and hoping to bee okay until I get my lights.
And as of nutrients. I was running Gaia. But I’m switching to lotus. Also been thinking about advance I know to stay away from fox farm. And I know GH isn’t a bad choice.
I have used FFOF and or roots organics original with pretty good results over many years. I believe happy frog isn’t as rich FFOF so you would have to start feeding a little sooner. I had OK results with fox farm nutes in a few grows, but I also had no clue what I was doing at that time. I’ve used GH in coco for a few years since then and have no complaints other than it takes a lot of water. I think for the most part it’s all about understanding how to use your chosen system.
Kandy Kush I grew on FF nutes
I think these were powerplant from the next attempt.
Happy frog is better for me then Ocean forest I’ve went through several soils and went back to regular happy frog it will take your plants one month then top dress with worm castings and Dr.Earth 5-5-5 and start adding complete crop and Humboldt’s Mag-cal in a water mix until bloom I start adding flower fuel hope this helps
