Need advice hydro/coco growers

So im currently growing in coco now but the nutrients and the work is really alot. Thinking about doing recirculating hydro , or a dripper system for coco.

Links to a good recirculating hydro for a 8x4 grow tent. One that i could move the plants around to where id want them.

Also need a link to a coco dripper system, also how do you make it to where it sucks the water out? If someone could give me a link or advice on this that would be awesome.

Thanks for anyone who puts there input in, really appreciate taking the time to help!

What about autopots with coco-coir and perlite?
It’s absolutely nothing like hand watering coco.
I fill my reservoir about once a week and that’s it.

They are set it and forget it.
No pumps, or water chillers like with rdwc, and absolutely no waist water at all…

They work very well with little effect, i do believe there is no easier way to grow.

This is what i started with in a 4x6 tent, you could get a 6 pot or as many as you wanted really. Theres different size pots but the xl trays are the same size, you can use any of your own pots or grow bags in the trays also. They are extremely unusual :+1:

Right. I’m not a fan of the autopots, but this probably the most practical if plants need to be moved around. Otherwise this would probably need to be ebb & flow or dwc. Most (all that I’ve seen) of the recirculating systems are going to restrict the ability to move things around once it’s built.

Loving the responses, love the pros and cons. I have to stop and think when dwc and other terms such as are mentioned. Greek to me.

Is there a 420 grow dictionary for abbreviations? A thread. Please and  thanks.

RDWC is a highly technical means of growing. It requires a fair investment in equipment to run properly but can give fantastic results. Autopots are extremely easy to use and grows good cannabis although I find it difficult to grow big plants in them. That said I harvested two plants in May that produced 26 oz. of flower.

Dwc = deep water culture
Rdwc = recirculating deep water culture
Ebb and flow is basically flood and drain where the water ebbs and flows
Autopots are basically a SIP " Sub irrigation planter.
You don’t see “SIP” used much but if you do thats what it means.

But yeah probably is a list of terminology somewhere

What is it called if you want to use drppers and reservoir? Canna coir would be my medium.

How are nutes delivered in the systems? Dwc, rdwc, i understand how wicking works, some.

Please and thank you

A drip system is an active hydroponic system. It is also called trickle, or micro irrigation system.

With all hydroponics, nutrients is mixed with the water always, so you’ll see people referring to whats in the reservoir as “water” or “nutrients” but if talking about hydroponics its safe to assume they mean “nutrient solution”.

So nutrients is always just added to the water source aka reservoir with dwc the roots are always in the “water / nutrient solution” thats any kinda dwc, rdwc just means the water is moveing but the roots are in it at all times still.
Same with wicking systems like autopots, they have constant access to the nutrient solution.
Drip systems irrigate as often as you set them up to with the same nutrient solution like any other form of hydroponics. As long as you’re useing an Inert medium that is you would supply a nutrient solution with the dripers.
Drip system are sometimes used to water soil grows and in that case it may be just plain water but that wouldn’t be hydroponics…
Hope that makes sense

Thanks pappy for putting it into perspective. Almost a year of growing, hand watering is okay, it keeps you in touch and close to the plants., but, looking at options.

@1HappyPappy thank you :blush:

Sry it took a week to answer you
I didn’t see your question untill yesterday :man_facepalming:

But I completely understand :+1:

…don’t forget Dutch buckets.
Oh, and NFT (nutrient film technique), but I don’t see that working for Canna at all.
Oh yeah, almost forgot about Kratky.

This is an RDWC with. 17 gal tote and 13 gal res.

I just upgraded it to a 38 gal tote. It says Deep right?

Remove the 13 gal bucket, and you have a DWC.

RDWC nutes are mixed and delivered via water pumps from the remote reservoir to the medium holding the plants. Those also hold water, but it now circulates between the Reservoir and the buckets or tote, or whatever. Air stones are also usually used in the res and buckets or tote.

With the DWC you mix the nutes and put them in the bucket. Circulation is all done with air stones.
