One week difference in each photo. @Nicky thanks for the help.
Dammmmmmnn.
So tell us what you did. I’ve always stayed away from hydro despite my interest in it. It’s always seemed like too much of a pain in the ass with all the measuring and monitoring and stuff. “Auto” sounds easy!
Search autopots on here. Several people use them. I just followed what they were doing except these are photos and from clones. This is far easier than soil any day. I am making the switch to them in all three tents.
I should have said, a lot of people here are using them and having great success. Some journals are more detailed then others.
I’ve kept a log of daily readings and anything I added to the system a long the way.
Autopots are fantastic for never having to worry about watering. You can stick to the part we all enjoy growing!
Girls look happy and healthy, I like the all clay pebbles/ hydroton method! Well done.
If you search @username of anyone here you can find their created post and a link to their corresponding journals.
What nutrients are you running in your res?
Jacks 321 with GH armor silica
The hydroton is just a top dress to keep the 50/50 mix from being blown around everywhere.
Also made a homemade Rez to help with the temps in summer and winter. The room is not insulated real well.
Here is my guide
Jacks has silica in it
Pharmer bob can you show me where jacks has silica it’s not labeled and I don’t Think it does
I swore I seen it looking trying to look it up this morning… I may have pulled a similar product but not the 321
Was trying to compare it to the maxi bloom
I can’t even find what I saw this morning… I know I wasn’t dreaming but it did seem too good to be true…
Maxi bloom was basic as f and the one I seen mds sheet after that had
Chelated every gd nutrient the gh product had
I grew in coco before I started my hydro (rdwc) and now I can’t seem to understand why everybody’s not growing in hydro. Setup is the only bad side to hydro. Just my 2 cents worth.
Hydro is so much easier than coco.
From my understanding autopots are easy just ask @Myfriendis410 @Nicky
Here I was, with these labels infront of me “online”
And I believed I was looking at a jacks label but I guess not I apologize if it’s incorrect…
Tho I wanna find out who’s making the 2nd
.15% silicone oxide is what I saw
I grew soilless for a couple of years when I started too and then switch to organic dirt and I often wonder the same as you!
That said I’ve been wanting to try DWC in bubbling buckets for years
Great, now I’ve got to go do a bunch of reading on the difference between DWC and RDWC!
I’m not a fan of DWC for the simple reason it requires a lot of maintenance. For example: 5 gallon bucket can only be filled to 3 1/2 gallon due to net pot and air space etc. During flower a plant can consume 1 1/2 to 2 gallons a day which means filling the bucket twice a day for weeks. No thanks. Adding a reservoir R DWC takes that hassle away. It also buffers the nutrient solution from extreme PH and TDS swings as well.
Autopots are a gravity feed/bottom feed system that does seem to work okay, but not in the same class of growth as hydro. It is convenient and clean so long as you don’t want to grow monster plants.
Well monster plants is sorta the point of hydro in my mind!
But with rdwc how do you account for different plants having different needs from a nutrition standpoint? If it’s all one big res and you’re mixing the nutrients to distribute to the whole crop how do you address individuals issues?
You can grow monsters just as fast in autopots.
It is best to restrict yourself to cultivars with similar requirements for this very reason. There is actually a lot of flexibility in hydro and if using a product like Jack’s or Chemgro you have a lot of latitude. The plants will extract what they need and ignore the rest (within reason). But there’s always that ONE plant that is cal mag hungry or something.
I’m doing ebb and flow right now with some Durban Thai/Cindy99 clones for the very reason that the plant responded so well to that medium. Took a bunch of clones and running them out.
I just harvested a GDP and a DT/C99 grown in Autopots with the GDP delivering 8.8 oz and the DT a hair over 10 oz. Now all of that said it’s my first grow in the new house, first time with Autopots, first time growing at 7,000 feet altitude etc so there will be some fine tuning happening lol.
