My seedling doesn't have its first serrated leaves, mostly. Advice?

These are the best pics I have from today; it’s so small in there.

She sprouted yesterday and opened her cotyledon leaves yesterday late afternoon. What appears to be the first set of serrated leaves are sooo tiny and they seem to be infused into the cotyledon leaves.

This is my fourth plant; my other seedlings have opened up with their small serrated leaves easily visible and distinct.

Prognosis? Give her more time?

She has just sprouted and needs a day or 3 to grow the first set of leaves.

Yes, but this one looks so different from the others I’ve grown.

So, this can be normal?

Yeah… give it time. Patience Grasshopper

I have plenty of patience, :slightly_smiling_face: , I’m just wanting to know if it’s normal, since it looks abnormal compared to my other grows.

I’m liking the replies so far. :grinning: Thanks!

To early to tell I think but looks good, going in right direction, up. I’m finishing up 3 I did all look different, all same strain and everything.

I’ve had really odd ones too… this was my latest… her cotyledons were growing together as one and the one first leaf was growing in between them like they swallowed her LOL She pulled out of it.

And she gave me this:

Thanks for posting that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Our plants are always teaching us. My second plant really struggled to get the seed membrane off, and my third plant grew a man ball (that I cut off, of course), and both plants gave me wonderful weed.

Oh, I hate helmet heads! I did find out if you spritz it with water and let it sit for about a minute, you can take a pair of sharp tweezers, put the bales together, put them under the seed cap (helmet) and let the tweezers open and it will pop right off… if not, spritz again with water and repeat.

She’s making progress! I like the little devil horn things that she has going on at the tips of her (somewhat odd-looking?) leaves.

What a difference four days can make. Thanks to all of the replies. She is an Afghan girl, the first I’ve grown of this strain, and these first leaves look really … Indica-like. :grinning: From almost no leaves to fatty leaves. :+1:

Hello, I germinated an Og Kush feminized seed, about 2 days ago she grew above the soil but the shell is still attached with no leaves showing. Is this normal or should I be thinking of peeling the cap off or start over?

It does happen. See if you can VERY gently remove it, maybe with a pair of tweezers, and/or spray it with some RO or distilled water first.

It’s so fragile i will give it a try this evening

Unfortunately I tried to open the husk and it just about fell off but the center was white and mushy. I think it may have dampened off, so I’m germinating a new seed in a glass of dechlorinated water with a few drops of peroxide. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll get this right!

Sorry about that! All the best, and let us know how the new one goes!

Will do! I’ll probably start a journal if this one makes it out of the seedling stage😂

Great advice! I get ‘helmet heads’ every so often.
