My Organic Grow Journal

Halfway done one still have one other to do. Definitely going the net route next go around.:joy:

Looking amazing . The split might be a good thing

Sometimes I feel like you guys are giving more credit than I deserve. Considering both were showing deficiencies and lock outs. Lol. Since then I’ve flushed both to get the run off in acceptable ranges. But for my first organics inside I’m pretty happy for what I got going. Buds aren’t giant but decent size and dense. Thank you for the compliments though.

So with this grow quickly coming to an end. I’ve been accessing my errors and what needs to be improved. I’ve got a few questions for the light man. @dbrn32 I know next grow I’m definitely ditching the two spider farmer 100 lights as it did improve my wattage the overall coverage sucked. And I kinda just dealt with what I had this grow.
So here’s my question. I’m considering either buying another 300L R spec or getting a 260 kit. Is there much of a difference between the two? I figured if I keep both lights at edges of the opposite sides of the tent. The crossover in the middle wouldn’t be too high. If I had the money I’d get a 500v2 rspec like @Hellraiser uses in his 3x3. I would in a heartbeat. I guess what concerns me is the over lapping in lights in center of the tent. What’s your best advice in that terms.
I feel like I got my environment pretty zeroed in for the most part.
Next grow I really need to work on pest control. And not strictly use dead bug. I’ll have to use neem again in veg along with some bio pesticides that I’ve been looking into.
Over this past couple months I’ve acquired a decent collection of seeds both fem and reg. All photos. The couple regs I’d really like to pop to make a mother plants. But I need to figure out how and where to put up a new tent. I got my hands on some Amy Aces and a Blueberry Bruce banner cross. Just with limited space the only things I’m hesitant about is taking the time to sex them. I’m thinking my best bet is to grow out the New England rock candy and gmo punch both fems and take the time to get my ipm and grow media down. Just really having a hard time deciding and could use some advice from you experienced folk. @MeEasy
Thanks ahead and appreciate everyone’s feedback.

@Hellraiser The boredom of covid isolation is getting to me. Took some time to drop the 100w lights for some side action. Been rotating the plants like they are on a spit like every six hours. Have a solid dli of 35-40 on the lowers. Maybe it’ll help fill them in.

Anyone want to shout out a possible end weight per plant. Don’t worry my feelings won’t be hurt.

Sweet, nice chunky colas, looking good!

5.5 oz per plant is my guess, though I tend to under-guess.

Sweeeeet!

Thanks man. Any advice on the light arrangements for the future grow I was talking about. I know I have a long way until it even becomes a thing. But like said I’ve had a lot of time on my hands.

I’d be tickled pink with 4 a plant a solid half pound would go a long way in my house.

Same boards and driver, just different heat sink (red) and a little more gap between the boards on the 300 that is not on the 260, very similar.

I’m curious if I got another 300 how to match the 500 board spacing to get the same coverage. Maybe a question to ask the company.

To best of my know the 260 kits shipping with same boards and driver as hlg-300. Heatsinks is a little different, and biggest difference would just be that you have to assemble the kit vs hang and plug in hlg-300.

There won’t be a big enough difference in board spacing to worry about. Spacing from fixture to fixture will probably depend on height to canopy. But also feel like getting them close will be plenty good enough.

So adding a 260xl kit or another 300 board would technically get me a 500 rspec correct me if I’m wrong. @dbrn32 What I’m trying to accomplish is an even spread of light over my canopy the best way possible. The only way i got any where close to even lighting on the plants this round with the one 300L and the two spider farmer 100 watt lights was by turning the plants daily and switching the from side to side every other week or so. Next grow I want to use a net and will no longer be able to spin the plants to for even distribution of light. You get what I’m putting down? Thanks again for letting me pick your brain.

There is no 500 r-spec that I’m aware of. There is hlg-550 or hlg-600r. Both use 4 boards but have different drivers.

Best way to do this would be to build out with strips. You could literally cover entire top of your tent if you want. But 4 boards work pretty good too.

Yes I meant the 550 v2 rspec I know there isn’t a 500. I apologize I was pretty feaveriah when I wrote the post. But yes I’m with you. I think I’m just going to get another 300L so I have the four boards. And keep them as far apart as possible in the tent. Which shouldn’t give me to bad of an overlap in the middle. At 18” from the plants there isn’t much spread past the fixture itself.
I was looking into their cri 50 fixture for veg. Any input on it? Looks like a great add on for veg as it hits more of a complete light spectrum. @dbrn32

Its not going to do anything special for vegging plants. If you have a space that it would make sense to go in would do fine, but most don’t have a lot of use for 50 watt light.

Understand what your saying but I thought CRI lights are more about spectrum of light versus wattage. I dunno I read an article on them last night at like four in morning pretty stoned and tired. But it’s a thin strip and about two feet long it would fit perfectly between the 300l specs.

Here’s the fixture I’m talking about. The CRI LEDs are supposed to be different from what I understand. Maybe I’m just misunderstanding and is really like a better version of a CLF. @dbrn32

Color rendering index is a measure of how true colors appear under the light. Cri Really doesn’t have any impact on a lights ability to grow weed.

If you believe the sun grows better weed than artificial light, then a 5000k 98cri light is the way to go. Although doesn’t make much sense to me that you would buy it as a veg light and then mount between two hlg-300’s. Your total light spectrum would look nearly identical to that of 500ish watts of r-spec boards.
