I’ve discovered these flies buzzing around my girls. I got a picture of one, it happens to be a large one. Most of the flies are babies landing on my girls, and I’m finding a couple of new holes. Will the food grade d earth get rid of those flies, and, if I dust it on the plants, should I dust the areas that look like little buds may be starting there? I’m adding pics.
Also, I just got in some fresh soil. Should I treat that soil with the food grade d earth before adding it to my plants? The soil in my pots has gone down, so I’m topping it off.
I tried that stuff on my outdoor garden and it didn’t
stop the insects here in South Texas. Indoors I have a Repel contraption that I buy at the Camping section in Walmart. Thry work great at catching flies.
I’ve always used Monterrey BT and horticulture oil. You can add a small splash of neem oil, mix it all together and spray once a week. It will even help manage the nasty
im dealing with insects in my outdoor grow and just started using the DE this morning. i was told not to put that stuff on the leaves as it can clog the pores. @Mark0427 has been coaching me with the DE. just a ring ariund the base on dry soil is good. use a spray on the leaves.
ive been thinking of putting a venus fly trap in my grow room.
@FullyMedicated What type of spray do you use? I was told you can make a mixture of water and DE to spray on, haven’t tried it though. That stuff is safe for humans to consume, but not breathe…crazy stuff.
Captain jacks dead bug spray vcan be used start to finish on mj plants. If u mix de and water as the water evaporates or absorbs into the leaves the powder particles stick behind on the leaves amd clog up pores which suffocates the leaves. Best not to spray anykind of stuff that will leave a residue behind on the plants. De is good to sprinkle around the base of the plant dry. Wet kills the effects of de. Whrn dry it is like small glass fragments that when the bug craals thru it slices up the exoskeleton of the bug dries it put and it dies same for larve and all. If the bug crawls thru dry de its done for basically as it slices them up all over. I have azamax and sns 209 here for critters but never had to use it yet inside. I use it on my roses and around my garden food not on thwm tho im not sure what it does to my food so i stir clear of getting ot on the product im eating. Never done weed before but i know @Joshmcginnis28 used capt jacks before with good result. He had thrips something bad 2 times and both times it wiped them out. 2nd time was a freak accident putting a basil plant in the room with mj planys and basil was not sprayed for the bugs and brought them back but the spray took them away again.
@Mark0427 & @Dankloud So Captain Jacks is good to spray on my outside plants even when they start getting buds? I’m completely new at this and don’t want to harm my girls. I am basically only seeing these pesky flies, but I’ve found three very, very small black shell bugs of some sort…didn’t get a picture. Do you think Captain Jacks will take care of pesky critters like these?
Haha good memory about the basil plant !!
Yup I’m completely sold on Capt Jack’s. Will always be my go to if something happens again. And as bad as my first round was, if it can knock that out , it will help anyone else that caught it early on.
