I hope my girls enjoyed their extra hour of sleep from daylight savings as much as I did A few nights ago the temperature dropped down to 57. I adjusted the thermostat on the heater which is pointed at my intake fan and temps are normal again. Mid/upper 70s lights on, low 60s at night. We haven’t gotten to the colder months yet, so I’ll stay vigilant.
I think this is week 5 since I switched the lights to flower.
There is some yellowing on some of the leaves on the Northern Lights. I noticed the other morning when it had gotten cold in the tent. It was only 62 and the lights had already been on for an hour.
4 week old Grandaddy Purple Autoflowers. No names for these I’m afraid. The straight one is showing pistils today. Looks like this will be another very small plant like the lemon haze, no chance for any real secondary growth. The other one which was stretching will be tortured. No pistils yet, so hopefully I can make her do something here. I’m hoping to curl her around in a spiral.
Beginning of week 6 flowering. I can’t believe it has been 5 months since I started… I’ve learned SO much. The buds are getting bigger and my first harvest is coming “soon” I’m really thinking only another week or so on the Lemon Haze Auto. Probably another month on the photos. They are all beginning to smell wonderful and can’t wait to try them. The Skywalker OG smells a lot like the Lemon Haze, only with a little pine maybe?
So I DID wind up just making a clone box from a cardboard box, some foil and a hot glue gun. It aint pretty but it was basically free. I’m planning on tying this into my ventilation… maybe move the intake fan to the box, and exhaust into the tent? I know it’s not pretty, but I’d like to try making some clones. The big tent is hopefully harvested in 4 weeks and boy, it would be great to have some month old vegged plants ready and waiting to move into a larger home.
So it is decision time - what should my next grow be? I think I like the three 7gallon pots along the back of the tent and I can fit 4 autoflowers in front of them. So another 3 photos and 2 autos. Here are my seed choices

I’m thinking I’ll have plenty of Northern Lights from the 2 growing now so for the big photos: 1 Supreme CBD Durban, 1 Chocolope and I guess a clone from the Skywalker OG. I’d love to try growing a big bud regular, but I’d have to start a handful and hope for females… no experience with this yet, so I may want to wait until I have a few grows under my belt first.
For the Autos I guess it should be 1 Super Lemon Haze, 1 GDP, and I’ll try 2 Big Bud autos.
The box is only 2x2x2 so I only have room for 4 3gallon pots and a handful of Solo cups. I’d kinda like to start all the new plants in cups and then transplant a few weeks in, but I’d read you aren’t supposed to transplant autos. I’m not so sure that is true anymore. My photos got transplanted into the 7 gallon planters when they were only a few days old and had to veg for like 3 months so I’m definitely going to want to pot up the new ones this time around. Probably go Solo cup>3gal>7gal.

The seeds are being more stubborn than usual. Different size plates than I usually use and they’re on top of my tent rather than on top of my fridge. 2 were ready and went into their cups last night: Super Lemon Haze and CBD Durban Supreme. 2 more ready early this morning - GDP and one of the Big Buds. Still waiting on the Chocolope and the other Big Bud, hopefully they’ll have taproots when I get home tonight.
I got a DWC clone box delivered yesterday to help try to clone the Skywalker OG. I’ll set it up either tonight or tomorrow night. I really wasn’t supposed to be buying any more stuff other than mason jars and decent pruning shears… I’m going to need another bag of soil too once I start potting up the new batch. Some one gallon pots as well.
Uh oh… watered 2 nights ago, just this one plant “the good one”. I increased the nutes just to see how she did. Went from 1/4 dose up to about 2/3. Using advanced nutrients micro grow bloom with overdrive and b52 .
Just clip them off this weekend when I take clones and dont worry about it? Or am I in trouble and I should clip the bad leaves NOW and flush?
It took longer than usual - most of the week, but all seeds germinated. I pulled all the big girls out of the tent and did some pruning and snipped a handful of clones.
The GDP auto that flowered quick, and other than removing a few fan leaves have just left alone. She’s short! Also, got another weird leaf. The third blade is kinda offset from the rest of the leaf.
Almost forgot! The auto GDP that I decided to “torture.” I’m really having a lot of fun with this one. I’m removing fan leaves that will block bud sites. I’ve been tying her down every other day, and I love being able to see noticeable growth every time I check on her. Lots of pistils starting to pop up on her so I’m not sure how much more I can get away with, I might actually see a decent yield from this one.
Day 10 in the cloner - one of the NL is sprouting roots like crazy. Most of the others have a hint of roots starting to show up. I’m happy… it looks like I’ll be able to grow that clone of the Skywalker OG that I’m planning for the next grow.
A shot of the Auto Super Lemon Haze that I said 3 weeks ago probably had another week or 2 to go. I think this time she might really have another week or 2… finally only seeing white pistils on the lowest buds. Next watering I’ll start just water until I see some amber Trichs.
@Covertgrower Should I be worried about the yellowing that is starting to spread? It was mostly on the plant in the middle, directly under the light… noticed some tacoing so I raised it a few inches last weekend and am now about 13" above the plants.
Am I having a deficiency? Overfeeding? I’ve been doing my AN at 1/3 dose up from the 1/4 that I had been doing. Every watering is a feeding. The one thing that I’ve changed in the last 2 weeks is since I’ve upped the nute percentage, my PH has gotten down to about 5.7 so I’ve starting adding 1/2 tsp baking soda to get it back up to 6.5. Am I poisoning the plants? 2 weeks ago I thought I was in the clear, and my first grow was going to be a success.
Losing a few leaves at this point is acceptable. Fan leaves are always the first to go. Recommend to feed every time at this point as well.
I assure you based off of your plant appearance, you will still be very successful.
Oh boy… went to check the girls this morning, take some pictures and I realized that I had made a mistake and might be in some trouble now.
When I made my little clone box, I forgot to screen off the exhaust which is feeding the flowering tent. Noticed some weird speckling on the leaves of one of the Northern Lights and a small spider web so I fired up the USB microscope. I think I must have spider mites.
@Covertgrower any ideas on what I should do? Under the microscope I see that this plant is ready for harvest, probably the other NL too. The Auto Super Lemon is ready as well, but they’ve all only had one water only feeding, and I didn’t water to runoff.
The Skywalker OG probably still has a few weeks, massive buds but a bunch of white pistils still. The 2 Auto GDP still have a ways to go. Can I spray them with Captain Jack’s? Does that stuff even work for these?
Should I flush the heck out of whats ready today, have them sit in the dark for 48 hours and should I plan on washing my buds? I found a big bottle of peroxide the other day.
5 month from starting my first seeds. The end of the first batch is near, and my next grow has been planned out and was started 3 weeks ago. Some nights I’m sick of mixing nutes and watering every other day, but I do love having something to keep me busy.
Thanks! I’ve got a jug of Jack’s out there already… had tried using it when I first saw the fungus gnats that I’ve learned to live with LOL! I’ll spray everything down today, clone/seedling box included and seal it off better. Maybe even spray the stuff in the box with neem oil too for good measure.
My plan had been to water heavily outside and get some solid runoff next time they’re dry (probably tonight or tomorrow) another time on wed/thurs and then darkness and chop next weekend. Stick with this?
