I have used ph down twice and mixed thoroughly but the ph is stuck at 7.0. I even thought ph meter was off so I recalibrated and remeasured but it still stuck at 7.0. I have never seen this and would appreciate anu advice before i drive my self crazy trying to adjust the ph.
If you keep adding ph down and its staying at 7, i beginning to think something is wrong with your meter
You think the batteries are going dead?
Or something else?
I did drop it in the water 1 time last week.
Its worth a shot. I know i would check everything before shelling out another $50-150 for a new meter
What brand do you have? I know the better ones are water proof
Its a cheap 1, hm digital.
I grew in coco and after spending a few hundred on meters that would keep messing up, i just went back to using the general hydroponics ph drops. I always thought the little swing from 5.8 in-between 6.3ish was good because they take up different nutrients better higher and lower
Check the pH of your black coffee should be 5ish or OJ 4ish to check the meter. Maybe you have high alkalinity water, then the break point is stupid sometimes like 15ml then add one more drop and 2 pH points
Can i use r\o water?
I know that used to always be like right at 7.0 or 7.1 sometimes.
Wouldn’t the ph of the water before you make coffee determine the coffee. Im pretty sure coffee doesn’t adjust the ph or everyone would save money and just use coffe?
You absolutely can. But if you use it on your plants you need to add calmag cause the ro water is completely free of everything
Yes you are correct, the coffee alone should be slightly acidic, but if high carbonate/bicarbonate water it might not move at all worse case.
Now I see below its RO water, the simple things got ruled out.
I use r/o water and the technaflora recipe for success line of nutrients.
I was using well water when i first started growing and the ppm before adding anything was in the mid 300s. So it did take a little more ph down to get it to move. That’s why i started collecting rain water and used it
You need to add just a little bit of nutrients to ro water before you can check the ph of it. Get the ppm to, if i remember correctly 50 should work or you can’t get an accurate reading
If my meter reads the r/o water correctly, Should i just mix a new solution?
As long as its not old it should be fine. Or this could be a good time to change your res water. But this is coming from a guy that has never grown hydro before
