My COB after lights off stays dim on

You’re on Euro plug? You’d be surprised really, I don’t remember if it’s galaxy hydro or roleadro model but the port for cord/switch falls apart on just about all of them.

I still lean towards the timer being the problem. And it’s cheap to replace and test. Plus it never hurts to have a spare.

Euro yea, REALLY?
No i havent any roleadro or galaxy hydro lights, but those are cheap china cobs, 1800w each haha, 300 wallpull. Ok i havent tools to measure but i see on plants how much can they put off. But your story makes me worry… But every Night and day allways shut them off/on are not my goal to. Thats makes timer useless. And my plants are not so near to me.

Defin. try tomorrow everything. Here are night right now and plant resting i cant test now. But yes timer is old but i have one more light there in same timer and thats all right, nothing dim.
This light is Miezhi 600.

Why just euro plugs? Some big Error only euro plugs…

I liked @dbrn32 's suggestion better than mine …

You could also pick yourself up one of these… super handy and it will tell you if your electricity is ran properly just by plugging it in…

I was asking about Euro plug strictly because that’s what it looked like in picture. No relationship to those other problems I stated. Here in US a voltage like that would have two “hot” wires, so polarity couldn’t be an issue unless it was on standard 120v receptacle. But you guys are on 230v line to neutral right? I’m pretty sure anyway, so I’m also pretty sure polarity could be your problem. I’m just not familiar with components used there.

Pretty much every standard, code, and practice is to switch the hot wire. The light switch may switch both wires being dual voltage, but I bet your timers don’t. So with switch on there’s probably a path through the timer and switch putting voltage to the driver. It’s not a complete path with timer contacts open, but enough voltage for the auto voltage switching driver to get funky with and have some output to the leds.

I’d almost bet that’s what is happening.

Will it happen when you did not use timer? Maybe it is the problem of timer. It did not happen to my Mars COB

Me too and I read the whole thing and kept my mouth shut. The timer is somehow letting enough through to fire up the driver. I hope the switches on the timer aren’t set to what I’m seeing in the picture when it’s plugged in. If so, that timer is probably worn out. Those things will break down much quicker when switching on and off a lot.

Hehh. Not a timer fault. I change another timer and stripes will stay on. I change cables. Nothing. Now i must read again and do myself clear what was polar change etc…

I cant understand mechanical or whatever elecricial english so much i can do this operation. Uhh. But thats big problem. I maybe screw one cob open and take some pictures.

I’m nearly sure it’s not a problem with the lights or timer. What I’m saying is that your circuit has a hot and a neutral and they are most likely flip flopped. Probably on your receptacle.

Of all the things that could caused the problems you’re having, that is most likely.

Ok but how to work it out. What to do?

Power down circuit and check wiring at receptacle?

Here a quick video for the basics.

Your not replacing it just checking the wiring for polarity but the same idea.

I assumed right away timer. But what you said makes sense. I’ve never taken a timer apart but I assume it only breaks the positive side of the circuit. So if it’s backwards then the power is unable to be fully disconnected.

The timers can definitely be an issue. I just don’t think so in this case.

That polarity at the plug is a issue that is real i had to run my own dedicated circut to combbat this very problem. Had a led light that had 5 or 6 diodes that would constantly glow. Fixed my plugs and never had an issue

I buy New timer and change all in my grow room and somehow now they dont do this anymore.

Id say your old timer was wore out then. Easy fix. Any who im just glad to see you got this figured out
