My 1st grow & the Spinning Scrog!

No, how do I calibrate a PPM meter?

I checked calibration on my PH pen this morning, it was only .1 high.

You need calibration fluid. How old is this meter?

1 Month old. I need to see if it’s “calibratable” ← is that a word?

It’s returnable till end of January… I just checked. I guess I need to order solution anyway, whether I keep it or not. Sonovabitch… I never knew these things had to be calibrated

You might not be able to calibrate it, cheap ones don’t really need it. I think id send it back cause it’s not working properly.

Apparently I can calibrate it, although nothing mentioned in instructions about it. I’m sending it back… what little I have used it is not a good sign if it needs calibrated already. Thanks!

Yes, you can turn that screw to calibrate it, but you need calibration solution.

Viparspectra 450 has been on 6 hours, and I already don’t like it. It raised the tent temp 8° and has lowered my humidity about 12%. I had hoped to use it for veg and get a QB for flower.

I mistakenly said the Viparspectra 450 pulled 218 watts earlier… that 218 was actually for the 800 watt COB that came in the tent package. (I don’t like it either!)

For anyone who wants to know…the Viparspectra 450 pulls 98 watts in veg mode, and 202 watts with veg and bloom switches on.

Well any light is going to raise the temp some.

Day 33

85° 65% RH (temp/ RH better today) I have the small diffuser inside the tent and big diffuser outside at lower intake port to get RH up where it needs to be.

VS 450 light with both Veg and bloom switches on was set 20" above the top yesterday after feeding. She grew 1" in 24 hours. Top is 19" from light today. She seems happy with the full strength feeding and new light…

Hahahaha I love it. :rofl::joy:

Day 35

Just fed 500 ml GH gro/micro/bloom +CalMag PH to 6.7

A couple leaves have these spots…

Day 36

She grew almost another inch, now 18" from light. Gettin’ bushy

The FIM job…

And some random shots

I received my new PPM pen today. Thanks @raustin for the suggestion. I checked the leftover nute mix from 4 days ago, and it reads 1560 ppm vs. the 119 ppm my old pen showed! That is insane…Weird

Day 37

I ran some 1/2 distilled 1/2 tap water only… PH 6.6 PPM 150 to runoff.

Runoff measured at…

PH 5.9 PPM 2180!!! I put the PH meter in 7.0 solution to check it’s accuracy…it reads 7.0. So the meter is right.

Not good. I immediately started running 7.1 water thru until I got it down to PH 6.6. PPM 1360

She is droopy after the drowning…

I’ve put this thing thru hell since before it even popped up out of the dirt. Let’s see if she bounces back…again.

She is gonna jump back by the morning. That low pH probably had her barely eating. Great catch :+1:t5::+1:t5:

Day 38

8 hours later…She says good morning and thanks for the bath!

Day 39

Temp 86° RH 68%

No water or feed, plan to let her dry out for 3 days. Some light bondage (LST) going on to spread her out a bit.

Had to replace the bigger diffuser that was at the intake port. I didn’t like it’s performance and it was a PIA to refill with water. I now have a 4 liter humidifier in its place and still tweaking to get the humidity right.

Humidifier at intake

Day 40

Temp 83° RH 68%

Gave her 1700 ml of tap water only. PH 6.9 PPM 280. The 1st 100 ml of runoff was PH 6.1 PPM 1540. 3rd and final 100 ml runoff was PH 6.5 PPM 1170.

Top…she is growing lopsided.

Side shots as she spins around, she is droopy from just being watered…
I’m thinking of doing a Scrog. She’s on an electric turntable… Has anyone done a spinning Scrog before? I can’t think of any benefit, other than maybe the light & fan breeze will be more evenly distributed? I just like doing weird stuff…

Haha she’s lookin good bro. That lopsidedness is just character :joy:. Never seen a spinning scrog. But I imagine it would need to be attached to the pot no?

Great pictures in this Journal. What kind of light is that?
